    molting and egg laying

My 5 18 month old EE hens started molting in September and stopped laying. They seemed to be done molting in early November and I started getting one egg a day (total). I got one egg a day for about 2 weeks and for the past 2 weeks I've gotten nothing. They are all fully feathered and looking...

Silkie hasn't laid an egg in 3 months? What's up?

The day I picked her up she laid 2 eggs. Once right when I saw her in her pen at her old home and again later that day after I had brought her home. She was with a rooster who I did not take. I have had her for 3 months now and she has not laid an egg (that I can find). She is a very stressed...

Can I sex a Silkie at 3 months?

Is there a way to tell? It's been agressive towards my full grown EE's who are 3 times it's size. Like trying to jump on them. I'm hoping to not have a rooster but is this a sure way to tell?

    Is my chick unique?

I have a 3 week old Silkie and after raising 7 other chickens from babyhood I'm surprised at what I am seeing with this one. He eats human food. I had him on the counter and when he discovered my leftover tunafish sandwhich scraps he went nuts! So far he hasn't turned his nose up to anything...

Feeding chickens leftovers from juicer. Too much fiber?

I just started juicing and I wonder if I can feed my ladies all the scraps that are leftover. For those of you unfamiliar with juicing, we're talking about a whole mixing bowl of veggies and fruit, reduced to a cup of pulp. I hate the thought of throwing it away, especially having chickens...

Will handling my chix make them too cold?

I just got my 5 chicks yesterday and I'm already so smitten! They are nice and warm in their brooder but I want to take them out to play! Is it too cold to take one out and play with him? They do not seem scared of me at all! I just don't want them to get too chilly. Thanks!
