Are there any beginner instructions or you-tube videos or something that could help a beginner learn how to knit socks? just basic socks, nothing fancy. Thanking you in advance for any help/advice!
For my first year - and theirs - I set a total of 18 eggs and hatched 14 peachicks. Here are some of the babies (six have gone to their new home) - if anybody has any idea what color & sex the 1st chick is, please let me know! The last two pics are the proud papas. The mothers are both IB split...
OK my 15 eggs started hatching (early) at 7 a.m. this morning -- now it's 7 pm & I have 11 keets out -- several more eggs still pipping -- question is, when I can move all of them to the brooder? should I move some tonight or in the morning & or can I wait a full 24 hours until all are hatched &...
Do the peahens just suddenly stop all at once from laying? Neither one of mine laid anything yesterday -- they just didn't even seem interested in the boys or their nest. I thought maybe when the time came, they would sort of taper off.
OK my peas finally started laying today -- but I am one week into incubation w/my Brinsea -- so I need to fire up my old Hovnabator for a hatcher -- what do I need to do?
How do you set up for a "hatcher" ? Please, any advice is very much appreciated.
One of my males has a swollen foot -- it's not bad but he is leery of putting weight on it -- I can't see any signs of a wound or anything -- my initial thought is maybe he flew down off the roost & landed wrong on it -- he will put *some* weight on it -- but he doesn't like to walk to it. it...
I have some almost 2 year olds I think are getting ready to start laying for the first time.
Is it safe to try & hatch the first eggs they lay -- I know with my chickens, I don't hatch "pullet" eggs, as sometimes they hatch very small & weaker than the larger eggs from fully matured hens...
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong-- but I can only see 1/2 of the sentences in any thread, in any forum. The rest is blocked by the "Recent Activity" section.
If anybody has a solution, please let me know! I have been an active member here for several years now, & this is an important part...
Would the Brinsea Octagon incubator work OK for peacock eggs? I don't have $500 for a GQF Sportsman & have been unable to find a used one anywhere.
Any other recommendations under $300 or so, would be greatly appreciated. Or should I just invest in some cochin hens & let them foster the pea...
Hey Mr Burt -- Your boy is doing you proud! (D'artagnan is equally as beautiful but we haven't been able to capture him on film yet)
The lighting wasn't great because the sun was going down.
The boys are starting to get their eye feathers!
Romeo, pied with 50-50 chance of split to peach:
closeup of his train:
and flight feathers: (what do you genetists think? split or is this normal for pieds)?
D'artagnan, my Buford Bronze, possibly split to -- I think Mr Burt you said pied...
I'm doing an abundance of cherry tomatoes in my dehydrator - I know to halve them but do you put them cut side up or cut side down on the dehydrator trays?
Also do you skin cherry tomatoes or leave the skins on?
Who's still keeping up with the Norfolk Eaglets, who are now residing at the Virginia Wildlife Center after their Mom eagle was killed by a plane?
As some of you know, thanks to all of the tremendous responses from the eaglet fans, The Virginia Wildlife Center AND Norfolk Botanical Gardens both...
Just got my Peafowl Today magazine -- nice interview article on you!
Just had my 79 yr old Mom over at lunch time to admire the peas. She couldn't believe how much they've grown.
I'm so proud & honored that you saw fit to sell me D'art & Romeo -- they are going to be absolutely amazing birds...
Please talk about pressure cookers. What kind do you have? What size? We are a two person household so I'm thinking of getting one but not sure what size to get. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
See the white flights on my bronze I got from you; does this indicate he is possibly split? He has a few white feathers scattered across his chest also.
Vishnu is without a doubt, one of the funniest, most entertaining birds I've ever owned (or rather, been owned by). She is always the first to come see what's going on. I should've named her "Nosy Rosy" instead of Vishnu!
