Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

So I'm considering trying something, and it's probably a bad idea but I only have three chicken eggs left that haven't hatched in the incubator and once those are done I really want to try hatching more eggs. The only problem is I don't have any eggs to put in the bator. So... I'm thinking about...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Ok, I had to try to get some pics where you could see the coloring better on everything. These aren't great but you can see the colors on the turkeys and guineas slightly better. Some of the turkeys. The person I bought the eggs from said some of the turkeys had the penciling gene. I'm not...

Ok Sally, and any others wanting to see pics of my hatch, here they are. Sorry it took so long but i just now got done with my to do list for today. It's a little after 2:00 A.M. here and I just got inside, I hate having to feed animals by flash light. I spent all day in town running errands...

    Candling with lots of eggs?

I'm on my last day of incubating my first batch of eggs and I started with 12 turkey eggs, 9 duck eggs, 9 guinea eggs and 6 chicken eggs. It took me quite awhile to candle all of mine and I only had 36 eggs total. I'm using a farm innovations still air incubator, and i've been doing a dry hatch...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Well we're up to 7 turkeys, 1 duck, and 1 guinea that have hatched. All but one of the remaining turkey eggs have pipped, and all but three of the duck eggs have pipped. No other guinea or chickens have pipped yet. I'm a little concerned about some of my duck eggs and all of my remaining guinea...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Thank you very much! Sorry I haven't been on here to update everyone more often, this is always the busiest time of year for me, I'm trying to keep my garden under control from weeds, trying to fix fence and pens, and all of life's other daily tasks. Out of the eight eggs I put under my broody...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Well I haven't been on here in a couple of weeks, I've been busy with my college finals and my son has started baseball this year, along with trying to keep the daily farm chores done I haven't had time to stop by. I don't know if everyone remembers but I am attempting to hatch duck, turkey...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I haven't been on here in a few days, and just wanted to update all of you that were giving me advice on my first time hatchings eggs. Just to catch everyone up I'm hatching duck, turkey, chicken, and guinea eggs together using the dry hatch method. I am on day six right now with the duck...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I'm only on day two, and I've bitten off more than I can chew for my first time using an incubator. Because I didn't know better and didn't do enough research first, I bought chicken, turkey, duck, and guinea eggs to put in at the same time. I didn't realize that turkeys, ducks, and guineas took...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

That's good to here about the Cochins, because the majority of the eggs I have under the broody right now are Cochins or Cochin crosses! I've never owned Cochins before but I think they are beautiful birds. You're right about the silkies not being able to cover many eggs. I would never set more...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I marked air cells, didn't get a weight though. I would really like to lay all of mine down without the cartons. There's just no space whatsoever with all those cartons in there. Also the guinea eggs don't set up as high as the duck and turkey eggs because the duck and turkey eggs won't fit down...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Ok, I hope I'm doing this right. I've got my shipped turkey, duck, and guinea eggs sitting in egg cartons with air holes cut into the cartons, and a space in between each egg for better air flow. I have three thermometers in with them that are calibrated together, one on top of the eggs and two...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Thank you for the advice Chicksooner. I don't have high hopes for the chicken eggs that will go into the incubator later(with so many things going against them such as age, being shipped, etc.) But I can't just let them go without trying. I might even try to get my hands on another broody hen...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I haven't been on here since late yesterday, and I have a lot of post to catch up on. I set my duck, turkey, and guinea eggs in the incubator about 15 minutes ago, and 8 of my chicken eggs under a broody oeg hen about three hours ago. She went to the nest instantly and hasn't budged yet. I'm...

Sally I'm sorry to hear about your hen, those are the worst days. I haven't been on here since late yesterday, and I have a lot of post to catch up on. I set my duck, turkey, and guinea eggs in the incubator about 15 minutes ago, and 8 of my chicken eggs under a broody oeg hen about three hours...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Well i just got back from friends house and he has a broody hen that is trying to set on one artificial egg. So i'm going back tonight to get her. She is a pretty small, so i'm only going to set 7 of the 14 eggs under her, and hold the other 7 back a week and then put them in with the ducks...
