Update - had a dramatic loss of the new girls. I now have 4 of the original bunch and Peaches. No one is laying at the moment. But this happened. There's actually 2 of them but only one pic on the computer.

Anyone order the 15 chick layer package from McMurray? It looks like a fun way to get a broad assortment of different breeds. Looks like most of them are the bigger birds, which is my preference.

Just looked them up. Small end of large breed. One site said they do ok in a run, the other said they don't and prefer roaming. Sheesh. Also, is avian flu still a concern at the moment? I haven't heard anything recently about it.

How big are they? I like the bigger breeds, if possible. Dunno why, I just do.

When I went in the run to feed the fiends this morning one of the new pullets was sitting in the nest box area. Good sign that she'll be laying soon?
