Its a great idea. However, I have a nightime mouse problem. I think I could make this work if I took a piece of pvc the same size and cut it so that it fit like a sleeve on top to cover up at night.
Thanks. Everyone was peaceful when i arrived home yoday. Interesting that yhe dominant tom and the girl have been in the chicken house (scattering chicken food) and cant figure out how to get out. This wasn't a problem before but it means that the chickens which free range are left alone til i...
My 3 turkeys are about 3-4 months old. There may be one or two males. I was hoping for 1 male, 2 female. Yesterday I noticed the dominant tom chasing one of my little runty chickens, and the other 2 joined in chasing and freaked her out. Also another chicken has a foot injury. She is the...
It's possible that the chicken bra which supports the crop will keep it in the right position so that food digests properly. However, I'm not planning on investing in 1, let alone 5. I'll just butcher and make stock, rather than let them starve.
So I tried the remedy that was mentioned. 2 tablespoons olive oil, massage 5 minutes, then hold upside down. NOTHING happened. I'm out of ideas, except to butcher the chickens. One is slowly starving to death and there are 3 or 4 more that its just starting to affect. So its most likely...
What causes this? Obviously if they sell this, it doesn't affect the eggs or health of the chicken. I'm looking to move these chickens out to a new farm. What about eatability? If I butcher her or more likely the new owner, meats good? I wonder the cause.
Sounds strange but she really looks like she needs to strap that chest in I have no idea what is causing this. I received several 1 yr old hens, all laying well, they were somewhat wild and kept in unsanitary conditions. This "condition" seems to be getting worse. I've noticed a couple more hens...
All my chickens free range and when I get meat chicks, they won't free range until they have all their feathers. So I tend to leave food out all the time in a specific place. I know some folks just feed once a day. Is this better for the meat chicks and layers. My layers eat when they are...
neosporin or generic will help. when I had to cut off my hens comb b/c the rooster ripped most of it off and it was infected and swollen and wasn't going to heal correctly, I cut it off, dusted it with wood ash which has anti bacterial properties and added neosporin. Your chicks injury is FAR...
So i put fertile eggs under my broody banty and 1 hatched out. The baby chick died at about 2 days old. Not sure why as it was active, loud and i showed it where the food and water was. Since the banty (she is young and just started laying) declined to set on the other fertilized eggs, i put her...
I also made this and it was a real waste of money. Unless I stand there and bang it to have the feed drop, it doesn't fill up. I was very unhappy with the function of this and wasted about $25. The feed clogs up and does not redistribute throughout the bottom. One pic I saw, the feed was to...
