Hi all, I got this guy as a chick a year ago, and I was told he was a Jungle Fowl pullet. Obviously he is a rooster, but he is much larger than the other Jungle Fowl rooster I have, who is about the size of a bantam. Also, his legs are yellow and the other Jungle Fowl's are slate. It took me...
Sorry about the images above, they didn't go through properly. In this post I will try to upload the photos:

Hi everybody,
As luck would have it, 1/3 of the pullets I bought last year turned out to be roosters. I have 2 Jungle Fowls, 2 Buff Brahmas, and 1 Bantam Easter Egger for sale. I would like them to go to a good home- each of these boys should probably be the only rooster in your flock, unless...
That rooster is gorgeous. Can anyone take a guess what his breed background is within the EE gene pool? He is very tall and slender...is that pretty common with EE roosters?
Thank you! I've been pretty much doing all that, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with her hiding all the time. I give her food and water but she refuses to drink around me, so I really hope she has been drinking. I appreciate the help and the links!
Hi all,
I adopted a 5 year old Easter Egger hen and introduced her to my flock of one-year-old hens and rooster at night. But all of my preexisting hens still keep picking on the newbie and causing her to hide. She keeps finding hiding places where the other hens and rooster don't see her...
Hi there,
This may have a very obvious answer, but I use compost toilets with peat moss and dump them into compost holes when the toilets get full. Bugs love these piles, chickens love bugs. Could I allow my chickens to graze the compost toilet/vegetable scrap piles for buggers, or will they...
Thanks guys- I didn't think they were old enough to mate yet (nobody is laying eggs yet, they are about 9 weeks old), but he/she only seems to do it when I am petting the Rhode Island Red. I guess we'll see!
I was just petting my Rhode Island Red hen, and she always sits down when I pet her. Well, a Brahma (not sure what sex...I think roo but not 100% sure) comes along and grabs the RIR's back of the neck by the feathers and held her down and wouldn't let go. I pressed him gently towards the...
Great to hear your success!
Does anyone know if wry neck can be cured with the vitamins if it's the result of an injury? I've been giving my Sumatra with wry neck vitamins every day for almost two weeks and there has been absolutely no progress. I am wondered if she was injured by a bird...
Ooh, also, say I do get successfully hatched chicks, do I need to turn the brooder lamp back on and keep them in the brooder? Or does the mom hen keep them warm all the time? i.e., Should I separate the chicks from the big chickens or let them roam with their mom and everyone else?
Also, can...
I am new to chickens and want to let mine breed when they are ready. I don't want to use an incubator. I have lots of questions.
1- Can you buy a dozen hatching eggs online and stick them under a hen? How would that work? Does she need to be broody already, or can you stick 12 under her...
That's good to know. I live in a really laid back town of less than 2000 people, but I got stuck with 5 roosters (3 of which were supposed to be pullets!), so now I know what to do to keep them from crowing if people do complain :)
Yes, those other Faverolles look quite like mine! Mine seem even lighter for the moment with a lot more grey. I am excited to see what they grow up to look like!
Thanks everyone, that's s relief. I got this Faverolles along with another from Tractor Supply (I know they're not reliable but I couldn't resist), who gets their stock from Purina I think.
Thanks for your input! Does "hatchery pullet" mean a badly colored one or non-ideal coloring? Because that's ok with me :) I just don't think I can deal with yet another rooster since I already got stuck with 6 possible roosters from advertised pullets!
Hey everybody!
One of my Salmon Faverolles is throwing me for a loop as to what gender it is! It looks like a pullet based on how much white, salmon, and grey is in its feathers, but now I'm not so sure! Is this a Frederick or a Fraulein???
Note the black and white Primary Coverts, and...
