I am looking to purchase some day old orpington chicks to include these varieties (colors) Black, Blue, Splash, White, and Lavendar. I'm willing to drive a little ways or I'll be happy to pick them up or pay for shipping. I'm located in NW Arkansas. I travel through Missouri and Oklahoma...
I have a broody hen, so I let the other hens lay eggs around her for five days. She's collected the eggs (15) and is in a hard set with them. I marked the eggs last night so that I can start collecting the fresh eggs. I've not had a hen set before so is this the way it's done? Will she still...
That sounds delicious! I haven't eaten quail yet, but I'm told it's good. We just bought what I think is a pair of brown coturnix quail. So I'll need to build them a pen and hatch some eggs. Hmmm a small incubator might be a good idea. The one I use can't keep up with the termperature...
A Muscovy hen has decided to stay at our house and creek. She's been here for a couple of weeks now so I went and found her a drake. I brought him home and he is currently staying in an XXL wire dog crate. Which I might add, the hen was super interested in getting in that crate with him last...
Currently I have 12 rabbits (three litters due in a couple of weeks). They are all New Zealands. I have White, Red, and Broken Red. I raise for meat and show, but some of them are quite friendly pets too. I have 4 bucks and 8 does.
I have raised several different breeds throughout the...
I'm firing up my bator tonight to make sure it still works (since it's been in storage for about 5 years). After I collect eggs tomorrow I should have 3 dozen eggs going in. I'm really excited. I hope I remember how to do this.
Welcome to BYC. I find that 1 roo is plenty for 10 hens. If you want to keep more than one you may have to keep them separate. They may fight over the hens. Depending on the individual roosters you may not.
The problem with transporting ferrel cats is even if you relocated then far enough that they don't return, you're just relocating the problem. Someone else is going to lose their livestock. It is best IMO to just stop the problem there and then. Prevention its the first step, defend when needed.
Hello from Kansas City! My DH is from Harrison and we wish to return to his home state. We've been looking for our little slice of heaven in the NW. Hoping to close a deal soon and make our move in the spring. I just wanted to say howdy to future neighbors and friends.
I've been to Vegas once... I can't say I didn't enjoy the visit, however I have no desire to ever go again. Well... Not unless it's January. I was there during August. It gave me a real good idea of what hell is like! This is coming from someone who loves summer and the great it brings to Missouri.
