Yesterday one of my older birds attacked one of my younger still chick birds. He sustained some horrible gashes on his head and both his eyes are swollen. I brought him inside and cleaned him up and put some neosporin on his cuts and gave him a stitch or two. He has made it 24 hours and appears...
I was planning on replacing the bulbs in two or three hanging lights in the coop (which is more like a shed) to keep the temp above freezing for the water. You can get the heat lamps that unfold and can be screwed up onto rafers on ebay
Does anyone have a link to any articles on housing exhibition poultry. I am trying to figure out what is the best type of coop to build for my Langhans because I want to try and show them next year. I do not want them to destroy their feathers. If I have to house them all separately I would like...
Hello, I will have to take a photo of their coop and run and post it. The run is dirt pack and their house is a wooden box that we built that is about 3 feet by 3 feet. There is one roost in the coop and the hen uses that and the roo sleeps sitting down on the floor.
ok...so this is a photo...
Hello All...I have two langshans and my question is about housing them. I built a coop and a 15 x 15 run for them because they were messing up their feathers running around the yard. Even though I put them in the pen my rooster still messes up his tail feathers (almost like they are shredding)...
I will go and pick up some Sevin from the farm store tomorrow. I treated the other birds with the ivermectin as well and cleaned the coop. I will buy the sevin and clean it again and dust.

I just brought home a rooster a week ago to discover that he has lice and mites. I just went to tsc and got some pour on ivermectin (there are a lot of posts on here about dosing and treatment) and put it on him a few hours ago while he was sleeping. I also bought poultry dust for a few days...
My Langshan roo was the pinacle of health two days ago. Today I went into his pen and I noticed these little tiny insects on him. Today was the first day I opened the windows on his pen because it was 65 degrees today. Tonight when I went in to close the windows I noticed his comb (which is...
Let me add that I have not noticed any coughing from any of the birds and the bird that I brought in the house had a horrible horrible smell to her. I cannot tell what their poop is like because everything around here is total mud because of the melting snow.
Hello, I am located in MD. I have a flock of Phoenix White and Silver. I have never had any problems with them except for predators. My birds are around a year old. Three days ago I went out to feed the chickens. I had them locked in the coop because a recent snow storm collapsed their pen and i...
