I only really give my birds some sunflower seeds before shows and what not, because if the eat too much it stops taking affect and won't make there feathers shine

Orpingtons can come in many different colors, there is one type that is mostly white, with brown to black specks splashed around, these are called Splash Orpingtons, other types of Orpingtons are black, blue, white, buff, and many other less common colors
If you have a garden and have extra or not good to eat pumpkins, squash, cucumbers, or zucchini you could throw it in the run with them for a little treat that they love to eat, and if the don't get it all it will grow and they can eat the plants too.
Just wondering do chickens eat acorns? A friend of mine said that his birds eat acorns so I tossed all of the acorns around my yard into the chicken pen so they could eat them, but they just sat there and the chickens didn't eat them.
As far as i am aware those are the only real effective options for treating bumblefoot. Keep in mind your best bet would be to contact a vet to see if there are any other options that I am not aware of.

Chickens are very consistent animals, if you get them started laying in one area chances are they will continue to lay there after you let them go back to free range.
Very true when adding more new chickens, or returning isolated chickens will force the chickens to reinvent their pecking order and could cause injury or even death of 1 or more chickens

As far as feeding the wrong thing don't worry too much, chickens will eat a lot of different things and all though somethings may make them produce more eggs, or live longer.
I would try to buy a feed that is more specifically designed for what you want...
In colder environments try tilting your 2 by 4 roost at about a 45 degree angle, this will forces the birds to sit on there feet when they roost, which keeps there feet warm, and because of reasons I will not go into. It allows your hens to lay eggs longer into the winter.
