Rocking S Farm
Hello and welcome to my BYC page. I am Sherry Foxworth and I live in beautiful southeast Texas in the National Big Thicket area. My small farm consist of Shetland Ponies, dogs, and chickens. I have been a horse breeder for 40+ years and have always had an interest in chickens...
My fancy bantam chicks are 2 weeks old and starting to out grow their brooder box, so I built them a larger wire and wood cage. It is 2'H X 2' W x 5' long. There are 24 chicks in all and had the first time outside in the new cage yesterday. I live in SE TX and it got soo hot, 100+ at 3:00, so I...
Thanks Guys for the input on painting the run. I had thought about planting a running vine, but I want full view of my chickens from my back patio. If I start the paint job, I know it will take awhile, the view would be so much better if it was a dark color.
I will post pics if I do the painting.

I am getting thoughts together to build my first run or outside turnout. You did a great job and I like the looks of the run and I think I could build something like. I am a 61 years old and by myself. What size is the turn out and could I move it with out help? Hey, I am woman, hear me roar...
Hello, I am a new "egg" here. Just wanted to say I lost my BR Rooster yesterday, in the day light hours. He and his 2 hens are free range on my pony farm that has dog proff fencing. Found him partly eaten, guts ripped out, head almost detatched and all the meat gone on his neck to the bone. He...
Lost my Rooster, yesterday evening, a little before dark. When he didn't come to his roost in the horse barn last night, and his hens were there, I knew something must have got him. Found him this am, dead down by the pond near a huge dead brush pile and some downed trees from a storm last...
