Hello all, hope everyone is well. We’ve hatched a few batches of Legbar/Leghorn mixes this month and we set more to set today, so I figured it was a good time to check in and join the Easter HAL.

Nope, that was correct. We found 5 more eggs about 5 days later that we weren’t sure about and slipped them under the broody that we was more serious. (I guess those 5 set/3 hatched don’t really count then? So total for HAL would be 11)

But wait, there’s more! Went for a drive (and bought a “new” car.) Came home to find 9 new chicks from the Legbar x Legbar, Leghorn, EE, etc.! (And one more that didn’t make it ) So, that’s 14 total. Happy dance!

We went to Arkansas to spend Easter with our oldest son. We came home to find a few new chicks! Looks like 4 chicks so far, 2 are camera shy. The lavender is an Orpington, the others are LO over Blue/Black Cochin. There are still a few Cream Legbars x White Leghorn, EE, CLB to hatch, and a...

Thanks! Hoping to add a few more blue layers to the mix. We put Joseph, or Legbar rooster in with 2 CCLB, 1 Brown Leghorn, 1 White Lefhorn, and one EE that we call Eggs Lincoln because of her black beard. She was a packing peanut with some Cornish Rocks we bought.

Are we too late to join in? We set a dozen eggs (total) under two broodies.

I’m really worried about the expected gully-washer of storm too. The last one didn’t flood our place here north-east of Merced, but it made the drive to and from work quite an ordeal. Many of the roads were washed out. We only lost power briefly, but I’m concerned about a longer outage this...
