I’ve had a similar problem thane past couple days. My girl looks bad ☹️ her comb and wattles are even gone. It’s been suggested by others to remove her. They have always gotten along and curious why , unless of illness, this has started.
Good Luck with yours and you may to remove her as well.
One of our 2 y/o hens is not doing well. Thursday all were fine (we have 5 reds and 1 americauna) On Friday, she was just laying in the coop having a hard time walking, no noticeable injuries. Yesterday she is laying under the ramp and all her feathers on her head as well as her comb and wattles...
I don’t but may need to invest. Haven’t been on here in a few days but over the last week, I’ve had two eggs and two broken ones that’s it, from six hens. Ugh!!
Thanks for the info. I am going to keep an eye out . We checked the coop when we got home and there was one egg, no broken shells. I gave them new feed tonight and oyster shells so I am hoping it’s just an egg eater and the calcium replacement will help
Thanks for all your advice Mary. I was fortunate enough to grab the last bag of Purina flock raiser at TSC. I am going to put some in with the girls as soon as I get home. Hopefully they will like it because they are picky little things except of course when it comes to cannibalism.
Okie dokie. I’ve bought the flock raiser and a new bag of oyster shells. Hopefully this will deter the hungry hens from snacking on their eggs. ( if they, themselves are indeed the culprit)
Hopefully the heat is what it was. I would hate to think the girls have a predator invading their home. I’m getting all new feed and oyster shells today so....fingers crossed .
