Interesting. I was thinking that if he carries the blue egg gene mixed with her olive gene that maybe it wouldn’t brighten the green eggs in her offspring. I’ve heard barring is pretty dominate. Wonder if the offspring would carry it.

thinking about hatching some eggs from these two. Any idea what I’d get? Rooster is EE and the cuckoo/barred pattern hen at the top of the pic is an OE. Her eggs are a darker green with speckles sometimes.

My RIR has been laying eggs like this for months. Just dawned on me that it may not be a hatchable egg with its shape. I have a few in the incubator that I started yesterday. Anyone have any experience with these shapes? Any knowledge as to why this occurs?
