    Post fly strike stench, infection?

Thank you for your reply and your insight. I appreciate it. Do you know what causes this to happen? She's not very old - slightly over two. She's an Australorp.

    Post fly strike stench, infection?

Thank you for your reply. The swelling is directly below the vent. It doesn't seem to be low between her legs. I've been reading about salpingitis. So far, she is eating and drinking like normal. And her poops seem to be improving. When I first found the problem (on Wednesday,) her...

    Post fly strike stench, infection?

Hello! Just curious if you saw the vet and what they said. We are currently going through a similar situation with our Poppy. She had a nasty case of fly strike, and hasa huge swollen bum. So I'm concerned that she might have prolapse that led to the fly strike.

    Tiny rooster.

Hello! Does anyone have a guess at what kind of rooster this is? I've been googling, and the only that I can find that have similar coloring are the speckled Sussex - but he's not speckled. His wing feathers were when they were just growing in, but now, not so much. Also, he's VERY tiny...

If it's a male, he's very timid! He frequently hides under one of the other chickens!

    Silkie photo update.

The beak and legs are blue/black. It's my only silkie, so I'm not familiar with how dark they should be. I got her/him at Rural King. Supposedly, they get their chicks from two different hatcheries, but I forget which two they said. The brown one in front was in the brooder labeled silkies...

    What's this?!

Thank you. I just checked the coop - she made a normal egg today. I didn't cut the white thing open... I poked at it and chipped some shell away. It did look like a hard boiled egg white, but felt like the consistency of a shrimp. I've found a few thin shelled eggs in the coop before. Maybe...

    What's this?!

I just checked the coop. She made a normal egg today. Should I still be concerned about salpingitis?
