I went out this morning to check food and water and found my first two eggs. But here is the amazing part. When I first put my chicks in their new home it was still chilly out. They kept huddling up in the nest boxes, all four in one nest box. I did not think it was a good idea to let them...
I have only been out there to let them out and shut them in. I just didn't know if it was a good idea to let them start sleeping in the nest box. I don't want them pooping in there when they start laying.
I have a roost, do you think it is too high?
I have set them up there and they just jump off after a few minutes. Should I just keep putting them up there after I close them in for the night? And also block off the nest boxes. (I am asking for it if I do this.) They will be giving me the eye.
I just put my pullets out in their new coop on Saturday. It has been around 70 during the day and gets down to mid to upper 40's overnight. I have a thermometer in the coop and it says it is about 62 in there when I open the pop door in the mornings. My question is, they have all 4 been...
My chicks are 6 weeks old and will be going out to the coop this weekend. Should I go ahead and sprikle some in shavings when i put it in the coop? Do I dust there chick starter with it? I planned on making them a dust bath in the run with sand, dirt and DE. Anything else I should do?

I built this one and have about $400 in it. If you could find some used material you could save some $$$. I bought most of the wood and all of the hardware. I found shingles for the roof and the plexiglass for the windows. I also got the insulation board for free.
