She is in a separate container. No she is not picking at it. She hasn't the energy to do close to that . As far as I know she is not eating or drinking on her own.
She was fine last night and as far as I know she was fine this morning but when I came home at lunch time today she was laying on her side, breathing heavy and could barely keep her eyes open ans had a problem keeping her head up. Also the underside of her wing(s) was wet, red and had sores and...
I recently bought two Dominiques from someone who said they were girls but I am thinking boys. One is supposed to be full bred and the other is supposed to be a mix.
Here are both together... The one on the right is supposed to be the real one and the one on the left is supposed to be a mix. The...
My chickens simply love the Superworms I breed. They are a much larger version of the mealworm. I can hold one about 30" above the ground and they will jump up and grab it from my hand. I have 3 chicks in a smaller cage setup inside and it's a riot to give one to one of them. They chase each...
Whatever way you decide to insulate, you must cover it with some sort of plywood so that the chickens can't get to the insulation and peck at it. You can use 1/4" luan or any sort of plywood or paneling perhaps but it really should be covered.
One of my chickens started laying 4 days ago. The first one looked almost round but the ones after that look normal but a tad small. Do they get bigger? It is a full size chicken.
Has anyone ever gotten a bad roll of hardware cloth? My first roll I bought to start my coop was nice and straight and the pieces laid nice and flat. All of the wires were nice and straight if you sighted them. I had to get a second roll and it seems the outside edges were longer than the...

They are supposed to want to roost up high... It's instinct to them. Also your roost 2X3 should be turned the other way so they have the wider span to set on. It's easier on their feet and they can comfortably rest there covering their feet with their feathers in the cold seasons. Maybe...
It's probably borderline but if they spend most of their time out in the run they should be fine. The rule of thumb is 4 square feet per chicken inside the coop and 10 square feet outside in a run.
