I don't live in Md. but I bought a quick pluck on line for 60.00 then all you need is 2 plastic 55 gal drums which are 10.00 a piece here if that helps most places wont process chickens- ladyride

look up quick plucker they work good we have one you can buy them done or d.i.y and they are cheaper than a tub plucker . but they are messy my old man dont mind he does all killing and plucking here when we process. they also make them for ducks and pheasents- ladyride

We got 6 australorps from them last year they have mave made some really good layers & good mommas. They were in quarentine as you should do with any chicken. They have really incorparated into the flock so well. They had hatchery stock but good looking to our eye they got reasonable size good...- ladyride

Well my no #1 rooster got hit today by next door dog. Lot's feather loss ( he was just getting pretty again from moult) No puncture marks that we could find but man feathers everywhere. He hobbled away, but he walked away. We had no idea anything was going on til neighbor was coming across yard...- ladyride

we have one for the meaties. We put tarps on the sides uncover one side during the day leave one side on for shade in summer. Always cover at night. This is why I have maintained a closed flock hoping the worst thing I get is bugs ie: lice, mites they are hard enough to fend off. Last fall with the mites almost drove me crazy since have been doing all of bairos preventive alternate permethrin & seven, worm twice a year & hope no wild birds...- ladyride

my favorite was this summer from my sister. I had just cleaned the coop was going to get chicken feed sis asked are you going to change clothes my reply no just going to feed store. tn chicken nut so sorry to hear about your accident & you are right karma is a b----- but west knoxville people fail to look beyond the skin to see the person that is fabulous. What happened go to work for 4 days and everyone goes post crazy took me 45 min to catch up . My poor chickens look...- ladyride
