we have one for the meaties. We put tarps on the sides uncover one side during the day leave one side on for shade in summer. Always cover at night. Had not used in winter but spring til fall it is occupied. We do secure with stakes during stormy weather it has gone across the yard a couple of times, no fun chasing chickens & coop to restake.

Lightweight enough to move by myself. I do cover the front right now to cut down breezes at night. But it will soon be processing time in a couple of weeks. The tarps will come off the frame back into storage area.

mmmm chicken.

I was going to do tunnels at my next place that I move to. When I started with chickens I wanted to baby them... you can look around my place and guess which was the first, second, third, ect ect... all the way to last coop. LOL!!! Simple is better and they don't require much. As Joel Salatin says, "Good enough is perfect."

Rodney, I'm thinking of building this as my next coop project... What would be your recommendations for the winter time as far as keeping them warm?
These are easy to make and easy to winterize. I will post a pic of my greenhouse that is the same shape. The cattle panels they use are around $19-22 now last time I bought some at TSC. We fenced out back pasture with them cause they will last many, many years. In fact...DH told me the other day...why don' t you convert your greenhouse to a hen house?? I did not let him give it a second thought. We use to have a landscaping business and I grew plants for Mayos and other plant stores. All I grow now is starting plants for our own use in the garden. I gave $800 for it 9 years ago and it is still in wonderful shape. So....I have a new hen house to start working on this spring...30x20 ft.!! Hmmm...that would be room for another breed.

What I would do is go to a greenhouse supply place..there are a couple in knoxville or you can order...Shade cloth used for greenhouses to keep them cooler. That is the best stuff I have found to put on the top of the runs and some sides. The cattle panel squares are large enough for an adult bantam to go through so...if you want to have chicks, young juveniles..etc in. they are going to go through. If you put the shade cloth on and then tarp the top like they did I think it would work better for you.
I am building 2 hoop coops this spring in addition for grow out pens. I am using PVC for the ribs and cover with wire fencing then tarp the top part. These hoop things are something any girl can make.

Second bloody poop. Not as bad as the first one. Now here we go: It is too late for us to get meds tonight. TSC opens at 8 am. If we get corid, is it too late to start treatment? (we realize we are going to have to treat ALL) And do we get corid? Injection?

Here is what we have going on with Plymouth: http://forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7975815

Coccidiostats

Don't know if it has gone too far for treatment. Says 5-7 days. Since we treated once before, it may be too late.

I think many of have been where you are. I know its not been very long since I lost 4 out of 8 and was driving myself nuts trying to figure out what it was (it happened over a period of weeks/months). The only thing I can tell you is if I had it to do over again at the very least I would have put out the $80 for a necropsy at UT. I think after the last one I just threw up my arms in disgust & complete confusion. You can look at symptoms of diseases day & night but since some symptoms seem to fit every thing & nothing seems to fit exactly IMO it s impossible to diagnosis the problem correctly. The only place I know to take him is UT. The visit is $60 plus the cost of any tests. He is your pet so its for you to decide. I personally have a few I would consider doing this for and not give a rat's @$$ what anyone thought of me for doing it.

The problem I have with medicating is if you do not know what you are up against you could be giving him the wrong medication and how many different types of medication changes can his poor system take.

Amy, I hope you can treat him. I know how it is to have a dear pet sick and lose them. But life without the years they gave me would have been much less endearing, so I will take the amazing years I got, any time.

Has anyone used one of these incubators? http://www.ebay.com/itm/130713384467?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 I got a freebie Little Giant, but just in case....I was thinking of getting a good one that holds more than 6-7 eggs. If you don't like this one, can you tell me a good and reliable brand/model? I have eggs coming in next week and I want to make sure they have the best chance. Thank you all.
