I too keep a pair of chinese geese and I sold the pilgrims beside your girl ( because the male was a pain and was becoming obsessed with my chinese female, although he had 3 of his own girls ) and the chinese male was going mad and the calls were driving me bonkers, now it's way more...

It was a great Auction at Kyneton, lots of variety in breeds and you did really well on that Chinese goose, she was lovely, I met your daughter when I was admiring her, pitty I never met you, maybe next time. Were you at the last auction in March ?
Thank you Chris,
I appriciate your advice, I am new to this site and have no idea of how to add photos, I will do my best and hopefully you can tell me what you think.
I have kept the best hen from my old stock ( 16 months old ) and 1 pullet and 1 cockeral ( the best 2 of last years hatch ), I...
G'day,
Can anyone help me with this question ?
My Rhode Island rooster is a prime example but when he extends his wings he has a white feather or 2 in each wing tip that is not obvious unless he stretches.
Is this acceptable for a show quality bird, is this common in this breed ? I also have a...

I often think that I'm the big kid in our house, it's an obsession, when I meet people that are new at keeping poultry I warn them that they will be hooked.
I suggest you buy yourself a thermometer with a hydrometer ( I think that's what it's called ) for humidity, and check temperature...

How did you go ?
Hope all went well and you have a big grin for the rest of the month !
I haven't been to Footscay, but I've always asumed it would be a lot bigger than Kynetton, may give it a go in future.

Which show is on this weekend ?
Thank you I would very much appriciate it ?
Next Kynetton is on in July I think there is also one in Yarra Glen, I've always wanted to go but never got around to it, fees are 20% commision that's a bit costly what do you think ?

My Emus are still young so they haven't started laying but it's the male that sits on the eggs and raises the chicks the mum lays them and takes off.
Many people eat them and say they are delicious scrabled, 1 feeds a family, other people use them to paint on or for egg decorating.
I...

I missed the last one. I was going to go- but it was the same weekend as Geelong, and I sold the last of my available ducks there. I think they have two each year - so might have to go to the next one. I might go check on their club web site now for info about their next show as...

Hello,
I too prefer the small auctions, I bought my ducks at the Kynetton Poultry club, I like going there. I have never been to Euroa and probably will never go as I haven't heard anything great about the auction, only that its expensive and chaotic and that's not for me, imagine the stress on...
When you love your animals, you can only do your best, keep an eye out on the tongue as it can sometimes get cut due to the uneven beak and it can also dry up and go brown shrivel.
Best wishes once again and good luck little chicky !
Sophie
Hello,
I recently had a chick with this problem, I read some mad suggestions but tried my own technique, I too realise the crossed beak only after a few days so I personally think it is not a defect but a dislocation from trying to peck out of the shell.
I tried massaging the beak and then...

Hello,
Emus are very interesting and lots of fun and laughs but the like to be the rulers of the paddock so look out all new comers, the big chase is on. They make me laugh but at times when I let a new mum and her chicks out it can be chaos. One time a rooster came to the top paddock...
