BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

Quote: WELCOME to BYC's - you came to a great place to learn lots about caring for chickens. I too am getting an order of 25 from MPC Rainbow Pullet special shipping 9/21. I'm planning to put mine out in the coop in the below built brooder I saw on this site. I'll make it two levels so I...

Great video - Loved the beginning with the phone message, music and trip to the post office. Yep - you are going to out grow that brooder in a couple days. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your new chicks.

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

Others who have made their own brooders inspired me to do the same for my banties. I started them in a small rabbit cage, then used a galvanized waterer but wanted to provide more room. I had free pallets I had gotten last year off Craigslist, so used one as the base then cut left over 1/2"...

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

WELCOME to BYC. It's a great place to learn everything you need to know about chickens. You have a great starter brooder but as you realize, you will soon need something bigger for 12. I would strongly recommend you wrap the cords of those heat lamp fixtures around the arm of the chairs to...

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

You've got the right attitude about making the brooder bigger as they grow. And grow they do fast. Can't tell from the pic how you have your lamp clamped on. Just make sure to attach the lamp in such a way to prevent it from falling into the brooder, or on the side of the cardboard, or...

Nice set-up TexasChickens - I think people use brooders that are too small for those fast growing chicks. I can't wait to see the coop you build. I think those cute little chicks are going to win your wife over. How could anyone NOT fall in love with those little fluffy balls with beaks.

Great job!! Very thought out, nice and big (for a short while) until 25 tiny chicks grow and fill the space. Love the idea that you can roll it out on a nice day. Thanks for sharing how you made it on your home page.

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

From another newbie to this site and also from WA - WELCOME!!! I think your brooder looks great. I would recommend another heat lamp in case one goes out though. That's something I was worried about when I had my ten in the bunny cage for the first few days. In my stock tank I moved them to...

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

Bare with me, I'm attempting to post my first pics of my first brooder. I started out with the 10 chicks in the bunny cage. Roofus keeping a watch out. Then 4 days later I moved them to a 169 gal galvanized stock tank so they had more room and two heat lamps in case one burned out...
