She just sent me pictures. The parents are from McMurray. But she says they aren't laying that well yet so she will do her best to get me as many eggs as possible but she won't be able to get me as many as I wanted. :/ She does have RIR too though so hopefully I can just sub some of those in.
Somewhere around $3 since they would be s/r. I emailed her and asked for pics of the parent stock. Figured I would set final price after getting those pics.
Hello! I am looking at picking up some local buff brahma hatching eggs. They are priced at $1 each. Is this a good price for brahma eggs? Is there anything in particular I should look for or ask about? I found the seller on Craigslist... I am buying eggs to hatch to sell chicks and maybe...
Not a statement on brahmas specifically but on pullets in general; it is usually best to judge based on the girls development and not on the breed average. Is she squatting for you yet? That's another strong sign. All of my hens started laying within two to four weeks of squatting and they...
My bantam brahma is broody for the first time. She has been doing really well. She was moved once and had eggs swapped about three times (1st swap went rotten so swapped for dudds then got more hatching eggs and swapped again). She has sat tight for the whole thing. I actually worry that she...
Too true. I have been removing the eggs every other day or so. Easy to tell the difference, the fertile eggs are D'Anver's and almost half the size of the brahmas eggs. Thankfully, Snowi is not a great layer. I find a new egg about every three days.
They could easily be laying and 'donating' their eggs to the broody. that is what Snowi is doing to my broody Summer right now. Both are bantam brahmas.
Thank you for your responses., Summer answered it herself this morning. She flat abandoned two eggs, so she set her limit at twelve. I brought in the two she pushed away and put them in a micro bator. And D'Anver eggs are tiny, she was only comfortable with ten of her own eggs for comparison.
Morning everyone! My bantam brahma has gone broody (first time ever for both of us), I just swapped her eggs for fertile ones but I am worried she can't cover the number I gave her. She now has 14 D'Anver eggs. What do you guys think? Should I remove a few?
Hello everyone! I am just stopping in briefly as I have just listed my 2, yearish old bantam brahmas in the sale section. They are local pick up only, so if you are in Colorado and looking for new blood, have a look! They are both hens, one light and one buff, show quality, not hatchery...

Last time we traveled 2 hours w/chicks, I was in the passenger seat with the box, heat cranked up in the car, and had my hand in there to keep them feeling safe.
Don't know what other people do. Last time I drove an hour, I just kept the heat up and had the box closed good.
I had a...

if its a mixed flock of hatchery chicks my light brahma took longer to feather than the rest and she was a pullet.
They are a mix. One each Sussex, Australorp, Hamburg and my Light Brahma. The Sussex and Australorp are two weeks old and the Hamburg and Brahma are three (For some...

I was worried about that...
I'm not allowed to keep roos... They're forbidded in city limits.
I guess I have at least another month or so to be sure. It would really bite for Tiny to be a roo though. 'She' is the most entertaining to watch in the brooder. Like having a mini...
Hi All! I have a question about chicks feathering in... My little Light Brahma chick is feathering in at a MUCH slower rate than everyone else. She's three weeks old and is just now getting her tail feathers in. She has the primaries on her wings but that's it. My two week olds have almost...
