Yes, that is true. They'd be ideal for a flock like yours where you already have some and mine would just be adding some new blood. I'm planning on adding some new birds from the lady I got my rooster from.
So I had put a dozen in the incubator. 100% fertility, all was going great. I accidently unplugged the incubator 4 days before lockdown. :barnieI've got a dozen more hatching in the next 10 days, so far 100% development, I'll post pictures when they hatch.
I've got Blue Ameraucanas, Olive Eggers, Black Copper Marans, Swedish Flower Hens, Bantam Cochins, mixed breed bantans, and mixed breed standards. The mixed breed standards would be a variety of about 25 different breeds all with a blue Ameracauna dad. If there was interest I've got 3 dozen eggs...

I'm putting my feelers out, though I'm not ready right now, I'm trying to find folks selling Black Copper Maran and Blue Ameraucana eggs, hopefully I'll be ready in a month or two.
Yeah, I think I'll be fine once I've pulled one off with no hitches. I just witnessed the de-horning of one out our yearling heifers and it was not pretty. Hoping de-spurring goes better. :fl
I feel super off topic, but since you guys were talking about it anyway. All I need is a pair of vise grips and gently twist the spurs back and forth to make em fall off? I noticed a hen with a gash in her back yesterday, so I have a problem with my year old roosters. The hen is alone and being...
