I have 2 Blue Barnevelders pullets. I have some friendly cuddley chickens but these have a unusual personality and I was wondering if it is a Barnevelder trait. They are very agressive cuddlers. They will climb all over me. Peck me until I pet or hold them. They want to sleep with me...
They are from Greenfire. I got mixed chicks. They were healthy and great for 2 months. But I do have one Marans that still looks 2 weeks. Then some started growing really fast. A few slowed. I seperated them in case the larger weren't letting the others eat. I hope that helps.
I would be...
He is so funny. He is a great pet. He goes with me everywhere. He has had his picture taken more times that a super model. He thinks he is a super model.
I just spent a while adding pictures of my Barnevelders. I posted but it's not here. I will start again. I have some new better pictures. I thought these might be females but after reading more, I don't know.

He was the only egg that hatched and by the time I found some one with other baby turkeys, I was mom. He wouldn't even sleep next to me. He had to sleep on me. Still does sometimes and he is 10-15 lbs.
Max
1. Dancing along. 2. Looking out the window. 3. Taking a nap on his blankie (heating pad), still his blankie.
4. Sleeping spot, pillows and basket piled up on the bed to make him high. 5. Going to pickup Chinese food, a favorite. 6. Snoozing.
I have a turkey that lives in the house with me. He is sleeping on the bed next to me as I type. I've been to a lot of Australian websites on chickens reading. You guys have great stuff. Do your Barnevelders look the same as the American ones?
Doggie door. My dog sticks her head out and holds the door open to sniff before she goes out. The chickens run under her and sneak past. I found an egg on a blanket on my couch once. They started laying in the pine shaving bags in the laundry room. I have crazy chickens. I love those guys.
My dog lets the chickens in sometimes when I am not home. I had one in the sink. There was a plumber over fixing a pipe outside and we looked up to see my buff orpington sitting in the window. He asked if I let my chickens in, I told him my dog does. I don't think he believed me.
I thought these chicks were going to be black but now they are fading. They look faded black, not blue. The heads are still very black. Does this usually happen? These are my first Barnevelders.
Where are you in northern California? I am from Sant Rosa and can't to get back to northern California. I wish the housing market would improve enough from me to sell my house.
