Totally normal broody stuff!

My 1 year old RIR from meyer has been broody all summer! I was surprised too! Good luck with yours, hopefully she will snap out of it.

My RIR from meyers has been broody for about two weeks! Did not see this coming lol. Of course, when i needed a broody a month ago, no one wanted to!

My golden buff does lay beautiful brown eggs, not as dark as my wellies or bcm, but much darker than my barred rocks. I love my golden buff eggs!

I agree, i think mabey mabel and georgie look like girls at that age. Will cross my fingers for you! :)

Nancy, have you tried sugar water? I had a RIR hen with a prolapse a few years back. I soaked her n sugar water, and it retracted back in without me pushing it in at all. The other thing you need to do is keep her in total darkness. I can remember the amount of sugar to water, but it worked!!

That single chick at the top seems like your only barnevelder. With your group photo, i do see one or two welsummers, but i didnt see an individual pic of them. The female welsummers have alot more brown on the top of their head and more eyeliner than the speckled sussex do. Wonder where your...

That is wonderful!! You are starting off with some great breeds, and Meyers hens are the sweetest hatchery birds I have ever had! Very excited for you and your family, you will find that having a backyard flock will be so incredibly fun and rewarding! :)

Some of my other ladies from Meyers also 6 months, enjoying their treats. Feel so badly due to the snow and cold, but they prefer going out. :)

This is one of my welsummers from Meyer. She just turned 6 months old, no eggs from her yet, but i am guessing soon! My other ladies from meyers started about a month ago! Love them!!

This was my first year ordering from Meyers, and I have to say that I have never had such sweet chickens before. I usually get a batch of chicks every year from somewhere, but I will never get any from anywhere but Meyers again. They are the best!!

NotableNancy, what breed is that beautiful red, white, black, orange hen?? I think she is in the third and fourth pics. She is GORGEOUS! All your other ladies are beautiful too!!
