Nancy, have you tried sugar water? I had a RIR hen with a prolapse a few years back. I soaked her n sugar water, and it retracted back in without me pushing it in at all. The other thing you need to do is keep her in total darkness. I can remember the amount of sugar to water, but it worked!!

That is wonderful!! You are starting off with some great breeds, and Meyers hens are the sweetest hatchery birds I have ever had! Very excited for you and your family, you will find that having a backyard flock will be so incredibly fun and rewarding! :)
This is one of my welsummers from Meyer. She just turned 6 months old, no eggs from her yet, but i am guessing soon! My other ladies from meyers started about a month ago! Love them!!
This was my first year ordering from Meyers, and I have to say that I have never had such sweet chickens before. I usually get a batch of chicks every year from somewhere, but I will never get any from anywhere but Meyers again. They are the best!!
