I'm sorry for your experience in dealing with others but I don't think that just not talking about them is the answer. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm pretty sure that that's not it. Just keep looking under every rock and in every crack in the sidewalk until you find them. From the...

5 weeks? Are you sure? Did you mark your calendar? Chicken eggs only take three weeks. You can take a flashlight with fresh batteries out and candle them. I use a minimag that has the lens removed and it fits very nicely on the end of the egg.

I was going to recommend Saladin here on BYC but it looks like he hasn't been on in quite a while. He lives somewhere in the south as well. I'm trying to find contact info on him for you.

I thought they looked familiar! But that comb made me wonder and I completely forgot the name of these. Sorry.

That's an interesting looking bird. Does it have a split comb or is that just one point leaning the other way? Do you have any pictures of one standing up? How big do they get and what is their typical weight?

That's nice to hear about those polish. It's always amusing to me to see kids carting their birds around like that... and the bird patiently enduring it all.

I need chickens that will stand still like that for chicken pictures! So you live in the frigid north? There's always rose combed minorcas.

They come in black, buff and white. The Rademacher farm has some really nice black ones and they are humongous. The buffs have a reputation of being a bit smaller and I've never seen a white one.

There's always the Minorca. It's HUGE.

Though it's not likely to happen (in MY case), I've seen some awfully nice Andalusians in Spain! Is this idea of importing semen from Spain going to cost an arm and a leg? I'd like to know more about what hoops you're having to jump through and the costs involved. Please PM me with whatever...

After you have had your visit with him, it would be nice to hear about. Maybe if he lets you take pictures, you could share them on here? Come on now Saladin, we're not ALL that bad. Some of us try to be brutally honest.

I don't know that I've ever seen one. Could you post a picture or two?

Is this the time of year where the sun never comes up in Alaska? There is a lady on BYC that gets some nice thick, clear plastic to put over the southwest portion of her hoop house and it makes a nice sun porch for her birds to warm up by. Another lady on BYC has sleeping boxes for her...

It is definitely hotter here and the winters are very much colder so it is more extreme on both ends of the thermometer. However, it is drier which is good. It can be a bit too dry too making my coops quite dusty. I'm working on getting a bunch of leaves and stuff from local persons who want...
