I had a he/she a while back. I guess I should have kept it but it was just another chicken I wasn't going to use so I sent it off to my cousin's farm in West Phoenix.

Great looking birds! Pardon my asking, but how do you have a black one? Wasn't the cross between a splash silkied roo, and a black Ameraucana? The only option is blue chicks... Unless that's a SUPER dark blue. Just curious. Do you know what sexes you have yet?
My thoughts exactly.

Yes, that's what I wanted to know also but UpintheHoller said the buyer wanted to remain, "anonymous".
Makes me wonder if it was pips & peeps... :0)

Wow... Blue Ameraucaunas split to be silkied.....
Now it's another 9 month wait to cross these beauties and we can actually see a breed of B/B AND S silkied Ameraucanas!!!!!!!
Still waiting to see what the crosses of the Black Ams and Splash Silkie Ams look like.... then those blues can be bred back to the Splash Silkie Ams.....
I know I need to have patience.
I'm still waiting patiently for pics of F1 crosses.
Black Am roo to the Splash Silkie Am pullets OR
Splash Silkie Am roo over a bunch of Black Am pullets.
Then the moment EVERYONE is waiting for... when you get a hatch from a cross of those F1 BLUES!!!!
OR what you get when you put a Silkied...

My guess is genetic mutation also because there would be so many other variables that you could get from an 'accidental' silkie cross that would also show up sooner or later.
You need to put him over some spectacular Black Ameraucauna hens and then breed the resultant blues back to each other. Amazing! How did I miss this thread from before???!!
