I have 2 broody ayam cemani girls...I want to give them eggs but at the same time, both girls are inexperienced and it's getting so cold out! Plus I have no pure eggs lol
Looks like I'm out. I'm pretty sure that my last egg quit on me. I have 3 more in, due at later dates but I'm not setting and more. If these don't hatch, no more seramas till I start setting lots of eggs again.
I was thinking something Halloween-ish but I don't know what yet. Pumpkin or maybe Jack (o-lantern). Haunter or Winnefred, Mary, and Sarah (the Sanderson Sisters). Guess it depends what colors they are when they hatch.
Surprisingly, one of my turkey hens is still laying and I've seem one of the toms mating when the girls allow him. I'm tempted to set them just to see if they develope but hubby would not be happy with me lol
I pulled another quitter from my bator this evening. I'm down to 1 left BUT I set another 2 eggs tonight so hopefully, if that 1 hatches, it won't have to wait too long for companions.
We have a new baby here! My broody silkie, Angel, successfully hatched her one egg that I allowed her to keep on her first attempt at brooding. Could be silkie x BCM or pure silkie since either would give blue babies but we'll see as she feathers in. She definitely has the silkie vaulted skull...
I candled my serama eggs today. 2 are definitely developing. I even got to see the one embryo right up against the shell with the little heartbeat going to town! The other two are questionable. They may be 2 blood rings but I'll wait until the 1 week mark and double check them.
If they lay any eggs today or tomorrow, they will go in asap lol. Last time Sally and I traded eggs, we checked and it was something like 4 hours drive lol
The BCM are shaping up pretty good! I can't wait to breed them :) The girls need to start laying soon though.
So I asked a friend of he had any serama eggs available that I could set for the HAL since my little girl has only given me 2 eggs so far. He didn't but he brought me another hen at the swap yesterday lol. If only they would both give me some more eggs by Tuesday!
