I have always heard just to tie some old CDs around like Christmas ornaments and they will flash in the sun and deter hawks. Good luck.

Only when the hens in the higher pecking order make the lowest hen be in there so they can poop on her, but that's rare.

Actually it is very easy to scoop the waste out with the pine shavings once a week. Takes me less than 2 minutes. I have an open bag on the coop floor. I use the clear plastic sheves the newspaper comes in to cover my hands. If I want to hose it down every now and then, I scoop it out and unsnap...

I don't have to remove the dowels. I just unsnap the sling. It snaps around the dowels lengthwise with heavy duty snaps. I built one sling with canvas and Velcro. It did not do nearly as well.

Yes! It's happened before and the egg is safely lying in the pine shavings in the morning. It keeps my coop quite clean.

I made a poop sling out of plastic tablecloth fabric and heavy duty snaps. So easy to take the poop out (it doesn't stick to the plastic) and unsnap to hose it down. I use pine shavings for odor control.

Yuk. I am not grossed out by chicken poop and the smell doesn't bother me, but dog poop, hum, not so good. That sign that Deb made: I had it enlarged and made into a professional sign that is in my chicken yard. I love it.

I have three ways. On my bunny hutch, it fit the tarp to the back half and wrap it like a present securing it with zip ties. I leave the bottom open but use deep litter hay. Another way I do tarps is cover the top and make flaps out from the coop and secure with bungees. And the last way is to...

Haha, Deb, I bought a nice chain saw when I lived in TN and couldn't bring myself to even start it. I finally sold it at a garage sale. Years later after moving to LA I needed to cut a tree down. I bought a new one and studied many videos on YouTube about using chain saws and cutting down trees...
