This is a family member's recently redone tank. I'm not entirely sure what or how many is in there. It's nice it have a big tank to look at again though!

There was two beautiful koi Betta at the petshop today! My bad photos do no justice. There was also plenty of beautiful Guppies. I liked the black one and the yellow and orange ones. They moved too fast for good photos... Should really finish setting up my tank!

If I don't get another betta I think I'm going with (one gender only!) Guppies or endlers. I know a few people with them so I can get some quite easily.

I know how hard is knowing they're gonna die and having to wait, Harley went off his food and that's when I knew he wasn't coming back a second time. I still haven't decided what I'm doing with mine, I really do want another betta but I don't want it to die on me so soon again.

A random question. Can I use any sand in my tank? I want to start re setting up my tank but haven't been to the petshop or fish shop. I have some substrate but not enough for what I want and I'm considering using it on the top of sand. I know I already have some spare coarse (if I'm remembering...

I'm curious to see what you end up with. I also only have a small tank and while I'm definitely thinking about trying another betta I have considered trying other fish. Though if I don't get a betta it'll likely end up just being an apple snail tank, maybe some shrimp too...

I wish I did but my general fish knowledge is very limited.

For those with planted tanks, what is the best substrate to use? Harley had live plants that did pretty well, but since I am getting the chance to start over I want to do the best I can.

Interesting. I'm gonna go find some of the earliest pictures I took of him cause all those were taken during his unwell period, I believe. He was petshop fish so I was inclined to believe it had something to do with that.

I don't actually know a whole heap about bettas so I am not sure if Harley was a HMPK :p I've only ever had the one betta so I am pretty sure he has heavily influenced my preferences, and also set my expectations for looks very high :D Most of the fish I saw yesterday were CT.
