Sounds great. No rush at 10 days lol I would likely be interested either way if it's for sure an opal. There aren't that many who are very far south of CDA here. I sold off the last of my extra hens about a month ago, so I'm no help there. If you have Facebook, you might try Spokane Chicken...

I'm always on the lookout for more opals. Is it a buck or a doe?

Right now, I could sell half a dozen duck eggs at a time easily. If they keep at it, I will let you know. My goose eggs may be reserved for the next week or so, I'm waiting to hear back from a gal who wants to trade eggs for milk.

I'm just starting to get duck eggs (only 3 a day right now) and I have goose eggs for sale, too.

First things first, you'll need to have more than one duck at a time. That is rather nonnegotiable. It's rather unlikely they will imprint on you unless you hatch them yourself and spend time talking/singing to the eggs as they develop. Ducks tend to be tame at a young age, then wild as they age...

All coturnix are either Jumbo or Pharoah, with certain colors tending toward one or the other, usually. Some lines are also much better egg layers than others. Also, most whites are not Texas A&M anymore. There can be a huge (for quail) difference in sizes sometimes as small as 4-6 oz or bigger...

Thanks all! I am still making decisions, but for sure a pair of welsummers, a pair of easter eggers, a pair of naked necks, a black and grey pullet (no idea what she is), and a few others, but haven't made final decisions yet. Also have a banty naked neck rooster that I'd like to rehome if I...

Well, I will be downsizing the flock a fair amount. Just found out I'm pregnant and want to cut back on the ducks, turkeys and chickens. Selling all 4 of my Narragansetts, several ducks hens, and several pullets/hens. Message me if interested.

I'm ordering from Dunlap this year, specifically Naked Necks. They're going to have the meatiest Naked Necks available at any hatchery in the US (based on other's experiences).

Some will be about the same size (I have a bantam Naked Neck) and others will be a little larger, out of my silkie roo over the naked neck hens. That would be a lot of cash to plunk down for a dozen eggs, especially if you only get a 50% hatch. No, haven't been watching much. Saw part of the...

I'm the handy one around here. I followed my dad around like a list puppy while he worked on stuff when I was a kid. But my husband helps when I need the help. That's awesome that your husband is willing and able to do so much and I'm sure the horses are going to be quite happy to explore "the...

The blue is much more of a dork lol After bring shuttled around so much, he just seemed to take life easy (little kids do a good job taming birds). I had a hard time culling down, too. I just replaced my flock rooster, but the new rooster, while pretty, just isn't taking charge. I think my...

I'm doing well. You remember I was concerned about the ban on roosters lay time we talked? Well, turns out there was already one in effect that only a few people knew about. So, we've since moved out to the county near Rathdrum onto a 10 acre place. Right now, I'm just trying to get everyone...

It's $50 for 70#, which is cheap comparatively. Everywhere else runs $100-130+ with shipping, because most kelp in the country ships from the east coast. With the money I'm saving on bulk buying, I will be breaking even on the cost per 50# that I would pay otherwise, but I'll be getting...

Not using the mineral bag. It doesn't absorb as well as chelated minerals, so instead we are ordering kelp and nutritional yeast as supplements. Birds will get all stock base from Wood's Hay and Grain, plus organic alfalfa pellets and trace salt if necessary. Ferment all that and offer kelp and...

We are in closing on our new place! Should take ownership in the next two weeks. It's a small house, but it also has a barn with an already built chicken coop and it has several fenced areas. We still have to build a chicken run off the barn and wall off part of the barn, but it will be perfect...

So, I just found out they managed to pass new rules for chickens here in Hayden. No roosters, no game birds, no pigs, and a maximum of 10 hens, with a limit of one hen per 2000 sq ft of lot space. We are definitely moving now. Can't stay here and live like that without all that we've worked for.

Maybe I can help. When a bird is "split", they have one dominant gene and one recessive gene. Basically, the bird in this case is black, but it "carries" lavender and if bred correctly, some chicks will be lavender. I believe Saris is meaning for you to get Orpingtons, otherwise you would have...
