Just set 7 eggs from Tinybirds...they are the bluest most beautiful little eggs I've seen!!! :) Also...I got my first pullet egg from my Morrow line ameraucanas!! WOOHOOO!!!
Well, we moved our little ones to our brooder out in our barn since the babies weren't quite babies anymore! We'd find them perching on the top of our indoor brooder...so before they were flying around the house, we figured we'd make the transition!! Excited to get some more eggs in the...
Ok...here's a couple of pics. Now, forgive the quality, as I just snapped them on my phone...I'll take some better pics with my camera when I have a hand from my husband! (not for the chicks...for the kids! LOL)
Smooth feathered splash
Silkied splash (Based on feathering rate alone, I'm...
I'll try to snap a couple of pics tomorrow....based on feathering, I'd like opinions on roos or hens. I have one splash silkied that looks to be behind in the feather department...so I'm wondering if I ended up with just the one roo?? That would be my dream hatch in any other situation...
So, I thought I'd chime in with my silkied vs smooth chicks. I am pretty sure I have my info right...my Nicole RM eggs were F1xF1 - I have 1 silkied and 1 smooth, from Alicefelldown silkied roo x smooth carrier hen - Line A - 1 silked chick, Line B - 3 silkied, 1 smooth feather chick...
Well, all but one of my Smith line ameraucanas hatched...looks like all blue and splash...might have to look for some pure black lines to get a darn black ameraucana in this group! All look healthy and are doing good. Still in the bottom of the bator...gonna move my silkied into a bigger...
How terrible!!! It's so difficult to lose any of these little ones...when I found that little splash silkied it brought tears to my eyes! I think there are a couple of us now looking for eggs...so anyone who's looking to get rid of any, I think you have a couple buyers! I'm really hoping...
Woohoo...one is better than none!! :) I too have trouble with the PO and our carrier...but I don't have many other options...not many chicken breeders where I live, so I've got to make do!!!!! Hopefully you'll have more luck with your next hatch!!!
So sad...got home from work this morning to find one of the silkied splashes dead!! My husband had checked on them just a couple hours before hand and he said everyone looked fine! I don't know what happened for sure...but I'm hoping everyone else is ok! They are all very spunky and eating...
to you!!! We only had one line A egg make it to lockdown, one other was a late quitter, all the rest were clear....I'm sorry you had a disappointing hatch!! I have had so many shipped eggs pip internally and not hatch that I am obsessed about it!! I now have a sportsman bator and it seems...
I agree!!! On your hatch of silkied babes!! I'm sorry to hear about your lavender ameraucana's......I tried to hatch some a couple months ago and not one developed, so I gave up!! I hope you find some good eggs soon!!! I'm sure you want them to be about the same age as your silkies! Post...
WOOOHOO!!! Thanks so much!!! I agree that a count is in order!!!
I have 4 splash and 2 blue. 1 blue and 3 splash are silkied....1 splash and 1 blue or smooth. I lucked out for sure!!! :) These little guys are strong and healthy...and I'm hoping they stay that way!! I've got my Smith...
I have one splash that looks like it has regular feathers and one blue...but everyone else still looks silkied...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Our little crossed beak boy seemed to be doing good...appeared to be eating & drinking fine...but when we woke up this morning, he was gone. So I...
Sorry to hear this!!!
I did my eggtopsies too...I had one pip externally and die...one pipped internally and never pipped externally...all the others looked like late quitters. Yolks were not absorbed and chicks were not in hatching position. 14 made it to lockdown...7 hatched.
