Ivomec, 5drops to skin at the bottom of the neck. 3 for bantam. Lice gone in 3 days, if you dose again in a week it eliminates worms too. $10 in the cattle meds
Well, possibly if they range outside some beaks would be ok, since mine that are in my camper coop only need occasional toenail trims. My d'uccle roo stayed inside from mid last summer until late spring and he needed both beak and nails at least 3 times! If it starts curling around the bottom it...
Length will need trimmed, unless there is a chicken version of a cuttlebone? I had to do mine. There is a blood vein in there, so you need to know how before snipping!
Small is good for indoor ones. Easier! But i love my easter eggers (outside). I tried to bring my favorite one indoors permanently but i waited until she was too old and she pined for the flock, so she had to go back. Have not had the mini of those; bantam cochins and d'uccles are a sweet docile...
If you build a cage with the small hardware cloth type wire you can put woodchips under them, and for house walking there are diapers you can buy, some with leash attachments! :)
This one i am not so sure wants to go back out...
I think he is going on 3 this summer. Almost died last summer, i got him through it but he hasn't tried a hen since.
My birds love bannanas most, but also baby spinach canned fish ( not too much, salt) yogurt, peaches, watermelon, pretty much whatever i am eating. Tried to eat a taco once..lol. I think it was the dangly lettuce that sealed the deal. One minute i had taco, then there was a flock of leaping...
I lost my girl i had in the house last summer. She re joined the flock last summer and got too stressed when i tried to brong her in. She made the winter but ate a wad of straw so i brought her to a vet and she died during surgery. I am distressed since i have treated this before myself but i...
You could do a dog kennel or a foldup playpen? Diaper for sure.
Sorry chickie momma. You are right, then. I wish you the best. It is never easy to lose a friend. :(
I have how to make a gas euthanizing chamber in my signature line link. B4 you go drastic, what are her symptoms? Sleeping a lot can be worms, sour crop, egg bound, constipated... diarrhea can sometimes be a clue too. Is it bright yellow? Green? Whole bits of grain? Any respiratory? Sorry if...
For lice i just do the ivomec to the back of the neck. Takes about 3 days then they are all gone.
I am planning to adopt out much of my flock next spring, looking for the rifht family. I have decided that with work 6 days a week a little over a trio would be perfect
This means if i don't get...
My mini d'uccle are not much if at all quieter than my standard ee's.... more persistant too. .. i love my house birds but will be glad for spring!!! Maybe by winter's end they will figure out crowing wakes the angry human...lol
Then you can wash the liner if they go to town on the paper and shred it. I like to go in with a hand broom and dustpan then take disinfectant wipes to wash, easy and clean.
These 2 are in for the winter. I wanted to bring my ee in but she is with a different group now so hopefully she won't get picked on.
This is a dog kennel with a board for a perch. Cut to a little longer than the cage width and notch where the bars go in out just like a birdcage perch

Get a mini breed (or two if you aren't going to spend a lot of time fussing with them) and make yourself a good sized aviary! One bird needs a lot of "us" time or it will be lonely, so if you work a lot you will want at least 2. You won't get breakfast...
