So they actually jump up into the crate? I was going to use those in my new coop but sit them on the side so they could just walk in. I'm not sure which way to put them now. :-)
Look under this post. Don't click on my name on the left, but UNDER where I'm typing this. You will see my link.......... :-)

That looks really cool Deb!!!!!!!!!
One question, as chickens poop will it get on the part where you show the egg and therefore stop the egg from rolling into the bottom section? I can't quite vision how this works.
Thanks.
I love this thread...............
I sure wish we could get back to the topic of it......... "Let's see your Inventions" (for chicken farming)
Thank you! :-)
The price on that is CRAZY!!!!
And why they have the red shut off valve is beyond me. that's not needed! The nipples stop the water.
Here's how you could make it............. Check the link in my signature line

Just don't...
Check out the link in my signature line for the heated waterer. I've had mine going for a few weeks with nights in the upper 20's and I've checked the water in the morning and it's still "room temp".
My winter will be easy with my waterer.
I bet he used something like this

Yes... Trying to help others in various threads with my bucket waterer.
Once I have all the kinks out I'm going to try to change the title in the thread you linked above from a question to something that will get people to look if they need one of these things. I'll also post the final outcome...
The pump I have goes up to 92 gph, but can be adjusted down which is what I have done.
The pipe is 3/4" and I can send a piece of flex tubing down it directly from the pump if needed. The pipe is only 6" long so it should maintain the water temp of the bucket.......... and it will be INSIDE...
Nope it's not an air stone, it's a "92 GPH Miniature Submersible Fountain Pump" from Harbor Freight. :-)
I can connect an airline to it if I choose and shoot that down my PVC pipe, but probably won't do that. I figure if the water moves (as it will in such a small bucket) it should work fine...
Okay, I might do that!
I'll probably wait until I actually get it installed in the coop. I'm waiting for the caulk around the fittings to dry, and I need to exchange the heater because it doesn't seem to stay on until the water gets to 75 degrees as the box states - might be defective. Also...
Deb - I figure, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I think the cube cost about $15 bucks.
When I refill the waterer I plan to take a gallon milk jug and put warm to hot water in it and then carry it to the coop to refill my bucket. No reason to take cold and force the heater to do the work...
I can't. My coop is small - 4'x4'x4'. I can only climb inside the "clean out" door if I REALLY want to get inside.
Also I don't want heat in the coop because many people say that Chickens have to get use to the cold and that they will do fine. If you loose electricity because of a storm and...
Yes I did mean "heater". I'm in Michigan..............
New modification.............. Bucket was too big for the location I was going to use it and power was too far away. So I decided to put it "inside" the coop (yes, I know that might not be advisable due to humidity, but it's the best I can...
My winter waterer for my 5 hens. Only 1 nipple. Will be raised on a upside-down milk crate with a cement block on top to add a could more inches in height.
Inside is a submersible aquarium pump and small fountain pump to keep the water moving. Both will be plugged into a therocube that turns...
