Argh I hate when I have to give my own advice back to myself.
I think because of the separate attention live shipments get the get scanned way, way less than is normal. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Mottled lavender orpingtons. 🥰🥰🥰
I feel you. I’ve given away so many chicks this year that I planned on keeping. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@FortCluck how are the chicks in the shed doing??
@CluckNDoodle no photos?!?!? Whaaaaat?
did you keep any mauve Orpingtons? You better have! ;)
@jmns I’m so sorry about the troubles. It’s been my experience that if cross beak is enough to notice while they’re in the incubator..... it’s probably way too extreme of a case to survive. Most of...
I personally don’t do safety holes. I have a few times, but I’m not convinced they help. Some people wait to make starter holes until all other eggs have hatched. The general rule, I think, is about 24 hours after internal pip.
I finally did it! I hatched and grew marans to laying age that actually lay as dark as the eggs they hatched from....Woohoo! All of my pullets from this year are now laying.
I knooooooow. I feel like this one is sort of hard wired? I can handle it but I don’t want her chasing my kid. It’s a girl, though, so I think she is just setting boundaries with the dog.
I’m sure I could rehome her easily. Hmmmmm.
one of my goslings goes after my dog. Whaaaaaat. She is 7 days old. I like the idea of a guard goose but I also don’t.
it’s currently hilarious but I think it will be too much to handle.
I’m so glad things are on the mend. Coccidiosis takes hold SO fast but also the treatments can turn things around equally as fast.
I know how hard you care for Them and how hard you probably want to be on yourself too. Don’t. Identifying coccidiosis in CHICKS without losing several is next to...
No I totally agree. That’s why I asked. I know it matters .... I’m just trying to see how much it matters versus my convenience factor and long term aspect of keeping the geese if that’s what I decide to do. My kid realllllly likes them and we have been talking about it for a while but I still...
Currently ready to ditch half my flock and make room for more geese. 🤦🏻♂️ (Only half kidding.)
I’m still teetering but thinking I’m going to try and keep my Africans.
ive got a wash stall in my outdoor barn by the house. And I’m thinking of putting a wire framed front on it and putting the...
Here’s my thoughts. If you’re losing different breed chicks, it’s potentially something in the environment. If it’s in the environment, you’re spreading it around anywhere, shoes hands and clothes. If you’re not losing any adult birds, it’s something they have immunity to. This all fits the...
