    Love my sand...easy to clean...I have no pests. Hang my water/feed. Have funnel turned down over my feed in case any little climbing critters want to give the chain a try. Think putting a piece of plastic hose over my chain would give them a realy good fall ! LOL

    I put up to 4" inside my coop with PZ mixed in with it. I change it completely about once a year and disinfect.... Getting ready to get it done in about 2 wks when my granddaughter is here to help me. Hope she doesn't work me to death! Like to put up another small fan in there also and need her...

    I'm in NC. I was at Walmart the other day and saw they still had a kid's pool..the turtle kind with top on it.I'm going to ck it out and find out what its going for on clearance! The cover would be the important part.

    I usually get mine from my own fireplace...the mix them with sand and maybe a little DE. Theydo love to dust bathe in that mixture. Cases should be just wood ash..stay away from any that have ashes from any chemicals, starter fluid/ easy starter logs.etc. go natural

    I cleaned my coop today.. Had let it go a week longer than usual because I was working on the run but here is what it looks like.. All I did was add PDZ which I do each time. I love my sand! 1st cleaning about a month ago Today's cleaning....did not even add any sand....just a bag of PDZ...

    I live in NC but have never had trouble with the fleas.... My ladies love the sand....and it is so easy to keep clean! Good luck.... Some people mix a little DE in their sand when you put it in there.. But it is so fine, wear a good mask while spreading it...But you should wear a mask also...

    I wouldn't put anything over any grassy area. I'm thinking about building an area just for my sand in the run. This is all purpose sand from the garden shop at Lowe's and its in my coop...played down a linoleum flooring first. I will use construction mixed sand when the grass is gone in the run.
