One of my new coturnix hens seems to have a curled toe, it litrally curles back round on itself...
her nail was imbedded in the soft part (ie; like a pad and due-claw seen in dogs)
i have removed the obstruction (nail) and bathed in betadine...
it does seen the toe was broken in a previous...

Its been my first time hatching bantams, and omg they are so small, and adorable...
i thinki'm going to go get quail eggs tomorrow...
heres to the next hatch...lol
the 3 remaining eggs when opened seemed to have died at some stage late development...
so...
we have...
1, bantam white Sussex... (little yellow fluffy)
5, Lavender d"Uccle
and 3 black mottle d'Uccle
that's clever... i hope it all goes well for you from now on....
thats for the support... its still overwhelming to see so many enthusiastic people joining in on the hatching fun...

Well on day 19, 1 Sussex pipped and 4 d'Uccle's.
morning of day 20, and we have 1 Sussex & 5 d'Uccle's hatched and another 3 pipped.
3 still no signs yet... but fingers crossed for a 100%.....
(high hopes but u never know)

Can doing the float test be detrimental?
i would have thought it would cause trouble with the eggs ability to exchange oxygen??
does anyone know of this, or have they tired the float test before??
