Good morning
I haen't been on much lately, been having a hard time lifewise (see Family thread) but I thought I'd pop in for a quick hello. Really glad that we had such a warm March. Wish yesterday had been as nice. I'm on spring break as of today and looking forward to having over a week off.

One of my barred rocks from Townline went broody last September. She hatched a single EE/BR cross. I'll post pics one of these days. Treasure your broody. Let her be a mommy.

MIne are not fond of it.
Last winter, we let the chickens out to free range. They usually don't get much snow in their runs because of the balsam firs and cedars in their run tend to keep the worst of the snow off. So, our EE roo was thrilled to get out. However, he realized he didn't...

Shortly after graduating high school, a buddy of mine and I went to the UP for a road trip weekend. On our way back, we bought fudge in St. Ignace. I bought 6 lbs of various flavors, planning to freeze them for Christmas gifts. My brother had 2 friends staying over that week for...
Happy holidays to all
It's so hard to keep on this thread, but here's to hoping all the chicken-keepers in Michigan had a great holiday.

This thread is so active that it's hard to keep up with if you're gone even a day! I'm also doing an online class through EMU so that takes up a lot of my computer time that I would normally spend on here.
Raining here. Just as well since I have a lot of papers to...
Hey all,
Checking in, haven't been on this thread in awhile. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
My crazy hens hatched out 2 chicks this fall. One is a purebred black cochin that I'm 99% sure is a pullet. The other is a barred rock/easter egger cross that has the lovely barred coloring but...

No, but I'm thinking of maybe getting some in the spring. I love the partridge coloring and that males and females have different coloring within the color.

There's been a few times I thought my chickens were dead ... but they weren't. Just napping. Flat on face, wings stretched out to the side and legs splayed behind. When I go over to poke them, to see if they are alive, they give me a look like "leave me alone" and return to their nap...
