    I I really don't think there's a connection, since there doesn't seem to be a pattern with who lays the darker egg, I think it's more on the strain of the bird. It is possible that the tendency for mossy birds to lay dark eggs comes from someone ONLY breeding for dark egg, and then forgetting...

    Well, my two younger pullets have moulted any mossy, or white feathers they had, their legs feathers are uniform, and their coloring is perfect! One has a wider tail than the other, and is slightly heavier, so I'm hoping for good things in her offspring! Pics soon!

    Just sharing my experience, and the ones with lot's of white never had less color than the others, and I meant the overall amount was more than the females, maybe that's just in my strain. Didn't show up quick and heavy., just could tell who was getting it, and who wasn't...

    Yeah, with the pullets, they looked identical, but one has a lot of different traits than the other, but you can usually tell by five weeks who has the most copper.

    A pea mixed with a single can sometimes look like this, I have a couple. It is probably the lighting, as well as in some birds it takes a while for the earlobe to change color
