Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

It depends on both the roo and the hen. Some roos just kill chicks. Some hens get so nervous that they freak out and then the roo tries to "fix" things by getting rid of chicks. If everyone is calm it works out fine. I separate them for a time just because I find the first few days they are most...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Thank you all for the education, I'm learning a lot! I still don't understand the calculator. It's over my head. I do know I'd like a BBred pullet to work on my hatchery creles, but I will understand more as time goes on so please keep teaching!

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

My alpha roo is sweet (and huge) After a little "setting things straight" (which is mostly posturing) he has gotten along with all other roos we have exposed him too. I think there have been 7 other roos we have had him share his space with most just short term. He's my keeper.

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Did the two chicks that died look any different than the others? I had 2 broodys sharing chicks last year and one decided she did not like the 2 black chicks (no kidding, I was moritfied) She pecked at them every chance she got. I had to give those two to a third broody she did fine with them.

My March 1st Creles are starting to crow! Too cute! I would appreciate it if those of you with more OEGB experience can tell me what you see in my birds. I know they look like hatchery quality, but I do not yet have an eye for what that means. I'm not thin skinned so critique away. If there is...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Gresh, OEGB's are great birds! My mom is in NC, but sorry she doesn't keep any bantams. I will ask her if she knows anyone with OEGB's though. She just might. And check your local craig's list there are people who are losing their property all over the place. I have seen Show quality chickens...
