how? they are curving into his leg!
Is the tip actually embedded into the leg?
Pics would help.

This is just a guess as I've never seen or had to deal with this problem:
You might need to cut the tip off as close as possible to where it is in the leg, just to relieve that part of the problem.
Hopefully it won't also cut the blood vein in the spur.
I might use a very, very sharp pair of small wire cutters or scissor type of toenail cutters....
.......and be ready with some blood stop powder or cornstarch in case you hit the vein.
