On one site I read that is was normal for meat birds to drink a lot of water? But these boys are now pooping really watery poo?.. So is this normal should I be worried? I read that this poo (in pic) is usally what they poo in really hot weather from lots of water intake.
I may have posted this in the wrong thread, I wasn’t getting any responses or answers hope I can find someone here who will just give me a little advice on what to do here.
I've got 2 broiler chicks 2 months old (and the size of full grown chickens lol) i want to keep them happy and healthy for their life.
I keep them seperate from everyone in their own coop for 2 so they can eat a small amount only at night they free range during the day. The bugs are not as...
So about 5 weeks ago I found a chicken in the road that had escaped a chicken truck, judging by her state. I jumped out to get her and drove home, only to find that her wing was broken with part of the bone sticking out. After 4 vet visits and a lot of time with her living in my room, she's...
Hello,
I wanted to share my thoughts on something. I spend a lot of time with my birds, basically hanging around all the time, I have a batch of cornish cross that are about 9 weeks (almost ready for processing) and other "normal" chickens. they hang around in my front and back "garden" I have...
Just so I can keep up with my antics with my chickens, I'm going to document all of the fun, crazy, frantic, tear jerking and sometimes embarrassing things (other than trying to spell embarrassing correctly) that happen as I am trying to establish a flock of laying hens, grow some "chicken soup"...
Being a novice at raising chickens, I purchased two mislabeled chickens not knowing any better. I named them Foghorn (Rood) and Leghorn (Pullet). Loved them to death, only having to butcher them because they were Cornish Cross instead of Wyandotte, they were suffering in the heat. Here's to...
What hatcheries would you recommend for show quality Cornish cross? I know Hatcheries are somewhat of a gamble but tractor supply is my only other option. Some qualities I'm looking for are health on arrival, wide breast, long wide body, and good bone structure.
Thanks to all who comment. They...
Hello, first time meat bird raisers but have over 35 egg layers. :) My son is going to raise about a dozen cornish cross chicks for 4-H and ultimately for our freezer. We want to free range them with the rest of our flock to help keep them going until fair in 11 weeks. The chicks we're...
We have a small backyard in the city of Dallas, TX. I have 6 layers that are roughly 2 months old. I want to try and raise some meat chickens. My husband agreed to 5 and no more...maybe. We have friends in the country who raise Cornish Cross to sell. They are raised in tractors moved everyday...
One of my C Monsters has a bad leg. She’ll probably die won’t she? She doesn’t eat as much food as the rest. And I’m not sure if she makes t to the other side to get drink. That’s just one of the things about Cornish Crosses right?
I bought two cornish rocks and two ducks from tractor supply co, but unfortunately one of the chicks died, so growing up the ducks and chick became the best of friends. They are about 4 and a half months old not, and the ducks are big and already laying eggs, however the chick is not growing at...
Hi, I just started raising Cornish cross. I have only had egg laying hens before this. I read a lot about the breed before getting into them and everything was going super (@ 7 weeks) until I brought home 3 ayam cemanis. They all get along but a few days later my Cornish cross started...
Hi everyone, We ordered cornish cross meat chicks about a week ago and in general through their
7-8 weeks before processing we generally lose about 5% of the chickens. This order we lost 18 chicks out of 60 in about 24 hours. 18!!!!!!!!! We have never had that happen before has anyone else...
I have a Cornish cross meat chick (about 4 days old), which since this morning has been hopping around on one foot. It can move it's other leg but it holds it out to the side a little bit and puts most of its weight on its other foot. The chicks legs appear to be pretty normal as do its feet...
Im getting 100 Cornish cross in a couple of weeks. How much chick grit would I need to make available to them? What's the best way of giving them the grit? And roughly how much would they consume each week (pounds?)? Can I give grower grit once they reach a certain size/age?
Ok, so I have two Cornish Rocks 6-7 weeks old. Didn't realize what they were when I bought them. I need to look at butchering them, since its time and since they're eating a LOT and since I want to make room for more egg layers.
I've cleaned and dressed hundreds of ducks, and a fair amount of...
