These meaties are 5 weeks old on a restricted diet. Still waiting for them to turn into the monsters everyone says they’ll become. ;)

That really sucks to loose them to a raccoon, they were so nice looking too.
I picked up a 50 lb. bag of starter for my little Cornish crosses and a 2' long feeder. I was using a 8" diameter round feeder for them, but they don't all fit around it so there were always a couple jumping onto the backs of the others to eat. They seem much happier now that they can all climb into the feeder to eat :barnie .
They have discovered that the big pink hand coming down from above is most likely bringing food, so they swarm it. I had to hold their waterer this morning until the last one squeezed out from under it as I tried to put it down. I am going to expand their brooder by placing a new level in the "run area" of the little coop I use as a brooder at the level of the coop.

I don't think they are old enough to go up and down the ramp between warmth and food/water. I have to give them food from the top because the minute I open the door on the side, they swarm it and I have had to catch one little fuzzball when he got pushed out the other day. They love to climb into my hand, although they are getting big enough that I can't wrap my hand completely around them.

I put the CX in the tractor and let them out as often as possible (weekends now that I saw a cat on the fence). They run to catch the bugs. Dig in the grass and peck around at everything. Very active. Swarm the feeder every time. I thought I was keeping up, but 1 gallon a day isn't enough. Time for another plan. Trough feeder is an option.

Don't have a layer chick, but they will run to meet me when they are out. Cute little buggers. 3 weeks. Almost half way done.

The 2 week old layer chicks are flying into the nest box to sleep with Mom. She is doing a good job. Watched the chick walk through the fencing. Glad the dogs weren't on the other side. Huge size difference between the layer and the CX chicks with only a week apart.
