Hello everyone!!! I’m just popping in to see how many have been in the same boat as me… I’ve heard it’s relatively rare to have a truly broody White Leghorn. But I raise you… Ruth Bader Hensberg!! She’s been brooding for almost 2 weeks now. I didn’t believe she’d last, so i’m just now putting...
Good morning! I was wondering when did everyone’s girls start to lay? I have two Rhode island reds, two prairie bluebell easter eggers, and two light bramahas that are 16 weeks and I have a buff orpington, white leghorn, and americana easter egger that are 8 weeks. This is my first personal...
I'm Mare and my husband and I started raising chickens and ducks last year. We started small with 3 hens and a roo and then added some meat birds as well as more Pekins to go with our duckers (Pekins and Rouen) last summer. We got hooked and have added around 2 dozen new chickens to our flock...
So...my cousin gifted me some chicks and I am grateful. One of them is a white leghorn and only about 4 weeks old but I’m sort of convinced it is a little rooster or maybe just a total head hen in the making. He/she guards the little chick flock or appears to by sort of keeping track of them...
Hey guys! My rooster went down unexpectedly today and I was going to try and panic hatch the last clutch to try and get another rooster. I need every last leghorn egg I can get and even debated on pulling some from my fridge 😂
are the two gross eggs in the picture below okay to hatch? Annnnd I...
Please tell me they are all roosters or not?
Though they have a slightly big comb but they sounds like pullet. I am very tensed whether all are roosters? Atleast one should be a pullet please tell your opinion.
Hello all!! I have ten hens, they’re all pullets, and they’re absolutely lovely! I would love to add to the flock, though. How would the chickens fare if I got some new chicks? I know a lot of the time when you add new chickens to a flock that has already established a pecking order and whatnot...
A White Leghorn, Major is surprisingly smart and docile (for a Leghorn). Unfortunately, she's also a bit of an escape artist, but she knows where the good food is!
I know pullets are prone to having abnormal eggs every now and then, but I was wondering if anyone knows what’s on this egg that one of my White Leghorns laid? It looks very similar to cooked yolk(lol). It’s not attached to the egg, and I was able to just wash it off with warm water. I’m not...
What color eggs might the offspring of a rsl hen and a white leghorn rooster lay? Would the eggs definitely be lighter than the eggs laid by the rsl hen?
May be a silly question... I know the color is only slightly off
Is this egg just a darker White Leghorn egg or could it belong to one of my Easter Eggers? The day after this, one of my leghorns laid an egg in this exact spot, so it very well could be just one of them. Just trying to figure out...
Hello! I've been on here not quite so long, but I feel like I've been asking so many question about my chickens, so I figured I'd join the discussion and introduce them to you! I also thought it would be nice to document our first flock so that we can come back and look at our starting point and...

Hi BYC,
I'm in Austin, TX. We're moving unexpectedly, and I am so very sad to say that I have to re-home my mixed flock. The flock has seven 8-week-old pullets, one suspected 8-week-old roo (not sure of breed), and two older birds that are still laying, but coming to an end. I hand-raised all...
