«We Could Be Legends»

Alice held the door open for everyone frowning at Tom the whole time. Maybe Silver had picked Maryella and Tom because they were so annoying. At least this guy didn't insist they pay him.

From the sound of it, what ever was in the bank was really important, and dangerous. He said that Silver was careful hiding it, but here he was practically throwing it at them. What could this "Key" possibly be, that he wanted to get rid of it so badly? Why would he trust them?
A wave of anxiety suddenly filled her, her heart dropping to her stomach. Something bad was going to happen, but she couldn't stop, she couldn't just leave. Everyone was already in danger, and she had no choice but to keep going and face it head on. To see it through to the end no matter what happened.

**Flashback**

Alice sat on a bench in the hallway, her head in her hands. The disgusting medical smell, filling her mouth every time she breathed in sobbing. There was no doubt in her mind. This time, it was all her fault. We should NEVER have gone there! Tears ran down her cheeks in unceasing rivers. Dyn... Why, Why did you want to go there? Why did you jump? It's not like you were going to miraculously sprout wings, just because you wanted to!

A hand gently brushed her shoulder, Alice batted it away, glaring up to see who would be so heartless as to disturb her. "Mom?" She sniffed, roughly wiping the tears off her face, trying desperately to replace her despair with anger. "What do you want?" She asked through clenched teeth.

Tayn crouched down and pulled Alice into a tight hug. "What were you doing there?" She whispered. Tayn had done everything she could think of to keep her kids from finding out about what had happened so long ago. How had she figured out where the inhuman city had been? Memories of that time came flooding back to her, painful memories she had tried to forget.

Alice stared at the bare wall, "We just," She hiccuped unable to talk properly, "I don't know." She she closed her eyes, shaking her head, finally attempting to awkwardly hug her mom back. She knew her mom was trying to make her feel better, but half falling off the bench and being crushed against someone was uncomfortable, bordering on painful. She hated herself for the stupid thought, why was she worried about a little discomfort, when Dyn was on the other side of the wall struggling to cling to life? She started crying again her tears making her moms hair wet and sticking it to her cheek. Her whole body shook as she tried to be as quiet as possible, maybe her mom wouldn't realize she was crying.

"I've told you so many times to be careful, bad things happen so quickly! You should have known better than to go there." Alice exhaled sharply and tried to stifle a sob, even her mom blamed her? She squeezed her eyes shut, a new sense of guilt coursing though her. She pushed her mom away roughly, shoving her off her feet onto the floor.

"MAYBE WE WOULDN'T HAVE GONE IF YOU HAD JUST TOLD US WHAT THAT PLACE WAS!" She screeched, and took off, sprinting up the hospital corridor. Her chest ached, but she pushed herself as fast as she could go. She had to get away! She had to get out! Dyn was going to die! And it was all her fault!

Lachlan silently watched as Vanessa diligently worked on Wolfram's wound, trying to make sense of the chaos that had irrupted that day. When Wolfram got up from and scrambled out the door, Lachlan blinked, turning to Vanessa. "Thank you so much, Mrs. Davis." He murmured sincerely, before turning and in a flash, was out of the room and walking down the hall way, quietly following Wolfram into the main room. He glanced around, flicking his eyes over Bleddyn and Toby, when he realized someone was speaking. "... Final steps of wiping away the impure." He hardly caught the last sentence, much less understand it. He turned to see who was talking, and stood studying her for a second. His eyes fell on the jagged scar on her upper mouth. Leona. He realized before his eyes on River, who had a expression of slight fear on her face. Before he asked what they were speaking of, Toby stepped forward and started talking to them, and Lachlan, realizing that Wolfram had slipped out the door while he was watching the others, turned and followed out it. He would have liked to hear more of their conversation, but Wolfram was weak from his wound, so it perhaps it was best to make sure he was okay.
When he reached the bridge, he glanced down along the rocky path, and there beneath him sat Wolfram, looking sorrowfully out over the choppy waters, muttering about being sorry to someone named Sage.
Lachlan leaned against the side of the bridge, peering out into the distance, trying to ignore the rain streaming down into his eyes.
After staring at the swollen, rushing river for a few seconds, Wolfram became faintly aware that someone was watching him. He turned, his heart thudding for a second before he realized it was just Lachlan."You nearly gave me a heart attack, Lach."He growled."What do you want anyway?"His tone was unfriendly and defensive, as if Lachlan was more of a stranger then a friend.

(Thanks so much dear Kate.)

"Oh, I mean lie down, relax, remember to breathe. Way too many people hold their breath for some reason." Della's fingers clenched slightly with the need to pull. Pull the pain away, heal the the wounds.
Fritz took that ideal opportunity to tense up and trap all the oxygen in his lungs for way too long.

Toby looked at Bleddyn. The bloodloss was making him a little slow at processing things, but when she said it so simply he realized what it would do. He cursed. Oh my gosh, I'm so selfish. I was thinking about how it could fix me, but it's going to kill so many people. Toby looked between River, Leona, and Bleddyn. "That's going to kill Jessi. She won't be able to survive that. We need to find and destroy it." Toby said. "Do you know where it is?" He asked Leona.

"Would kill them." Both River and Leona said at the same time.
"Not all of us, only inhumans with features that can't melt away without killing them. Centaurs, mermaids, anything like them would die, a slow and painful death. Shapeshifters too. They have too many changeable inhuman cells, they're bodies would have nothing left in them. Healers, benders, people like them however, they might survive, powerless, however. And with some possible... Side affects. But that's only an idea. As far as I know, anything could happen to benders and healers." Leona said, shifting her gaze to the girl.

"We'll stop them." River murmured, lost in thought. Finlay may survive if all that went through, but Lachlan... Lachlan would melt away, gone like a feather on a shifting wind.
Leona glanced at him. "I wish I knew. But Silver hid it. She didn't tell us where- she was afraid there could be spies in our ranks."

Toby looked between them, panicking. His mind was going through all the people he knew, thinking of what would happen to them. Charlie would be safe, Mary would be safe, mom might be okay, but who cares about her. Jessi- Jessi is going to die. I will not let that happen. "Do you have even the slightest idea where it could be? Even what country it's in could be useful. Did Silver ever hint anything at all?" He asked. You could hear the panic creeping into his voice.
...Dad....Lachlan...Delilah...Zion...Misty...River...*contained sigh*...Wolfram....just gone?
Bleddyn gave her head a furious shake, trying to rid herself of the horrific mental images that refused to dissipate. Droplets of blood flecked the nearest wall as it was flung from her face, but she didn't give it a heartbeat of concern.
"Is there any way the whole supply of the substance could be destroyed before it even has the chance to get into the wrong hands?" Unlike Toby, her projected voice remained firm, but that didn't mean internally she was still unshaken.

"Thank you so much sir. We really appreciate it." Jessi said genuinely. She looked at the others. "We should go. We need to get this before the Pure does."

Leona paused, a sympathetic look on her face. "I know it's in America. It's probably somewhere in the surrounding states. But... I can't be sure. Silver would go to great lengths to make sure it was hidden."

Leona bit her lip. "I... Am not a hundred percent sure. If it was to be broke open, it's contents would spill out and still do as they were meant to. Even if we were completely careful, if we tried to destroy it we may not be able to contain it."

"So if they get to it..." Bleddyn abruptly found her unlimited supply of ready-made retorts to exhaust itself. Her fingers were unconsciously thrumming out a scene on the wall: her thumb curled the other four defenseless fingers with one well-aimed tap. Just one success -or mistake- is all it'll take. Are you gonna let that sink in yet?
When she finally found the response she wanted, it came out as a dwindling hiss. "-we're done."

"Maybe that means the Pure won't be able to find it?" Toby said uncertainly. He sighed, frustrated. Now I'm just being stupid. Of course they will find it. They will find it, and everyone will die, including River, Misty, Delilah, and Rex. Is it bad that I kinda want it to be released on Rex? Yeah, I guess it is. He watched as Bleddyn drummed her fingers on the wall. That is super distracting.
