«We Could Be Legends»

"Hey! Unlike some people, I keep my feet clean!" Frosty protested. "And, yes, I do remember that river incident!"

Frosty rolled his eyes. "Well, would you rather I called you Indigo-lover?" He muttered, instantly realizing that was a rather lame nickname.

"Would you two stop, already? You sound like preschoolers."

"Do not call me Indigo lover! Just because she's hot doesn't mean I have to love her. Hey, you were the one who started this." Toby grumbled.

"Frosty's right, for once," Indigo muttered. "So what now? What's the plan?"

"We're going to the Multitude. The chicken isn't getting a response from them."

Wolfram just nodded, his eyes never leaving the vans. He silently walked up to Lachlan, and pulled his hand out of his pocket, holding Lachlan's knife out to him. He didn't speak, his pale hand shaking slightly. His face seemed to be a almost unhealthy shade of white, his jaw purple and blue with bruises, and three perfect scratch marks, coated in blood, ran from his cheekbone to his jaw. And his eyes, instead of a normal bright blue, where a dull shade of gray-blue.
Lachlan slowly took the knife, pocketing it quickly. His eyes flickered over Wolfram's battered face, then slid over to River's blood stained hands and shirt, before whipping back to Wolfram. "What happened?" He asked calmly, studying Wolfram's reaction.

"We're going to the Multitude. The chicken isn't getting a response from them."
"Again with 'the chicken'. Wouldn't you like it if I started calling you 'the annoying human'." Frosty grumbled. "Turn right here. See that sign? We're almost there." He said in a louder voice.

"You admitted it," but Indigo's mutter was too quiet for Toby to hear. Sherri stared. Being part cat she had heard every word. Good, so Indigo had a weakness she could use to tease.
"Umm, hate to interrupt the conversation of two lovers, but why is your headset thingy flashing all different colors?"
Indigo jolted. "Oh! Uhh..."
She picked it up. A message, prerecorded.
"MULTITUDE EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATEMENT. WE APPEAR TO BE UNDER ATTACK, I REPEAT, WE APPEAR TO BE UNDER ATTACK"
A nervous woman added, picking up the phone at the other end. Or at least, Indigo assumed that's what she was doing: "We are evacuatingPurenot sure what's going on rightnow," she said in a rushed voice.
"Yeah, that helped, Lacey," Indigo growled.
She hailed Frosty.
"Yeah, I got an alert statement. Pure attack."

Lachlan slowly took the knife, pocketing it quickly. His eyes flickered over Wolfram's battered face, then slid over to River's blood stained hands and shirt, before whipping back to Wolfram. "What happened?" He asked calmly, studying Wolfram's reaction.
Wolfram shook his head frantically, eyes flickering over everything. The vans, Lachlan, Ash, Conner, Brisa...and to his disappointment not Bleddyn. He looked back to Lachlan, meeting his friends intense green eyes. "M-Mapleshade and...M-Michael and the rest of t-the P-pure attacked u-us...a-and..." He paused for a heartbeat, his eyes drifting back to the vans with a look of both fear and guilt. "...a-and...they-they...I....I..." He choked on his own words, unable to speak coherently. He felt trapped, like he was suffocating, even in the open space. Like a injured animal, trapped in a cage, frightened and filled with rage. He took a step away from Lachlan, stuttering incoherent sentences, a haunted look filling his eyes. "They're going to kill us because I killed him!"

"Again with 'the chicken'. Wouldn't you like it if I started calling you 'the annoying human'." Frosty grumbled. "Turn right here. See that sign? We're almost there." He said louder.

"Better than taxi-kid. And it would be accurate." Toby grumbled. He turned right, noticing the sign. "Um, they aren't going to instantly attack us because we look like the Pure, right?" He asked nervously.

Yeah, that's cause you're the only chicken. Just like I'm the only "enchantress," Indigo thought, but decided not to add that unhelpful statement.

"HOW DARE HE!" Her shrieked ripped through the back of the van, her hand slamming a violent punch against the black metal walls. Her nails slammed against the metal, and she dragged her nails down the wall, a screeching noise following them. She flattened her ears at the sound, pulling away from the wall. Her one good eye flashed a violent green. "Stop this damn truck now!" She shrieked. "Contact the trackers. Do not let them kill the kitten-boy. He's mine." Her green eye flashed violently, a murderous look drawn on her face. Her lips drew into a smirk, revealing her sharp fang-like teeth. Her ears where pinned to her head, her tail whipping back and forth. "He's going to pay. He'll suffer more pain then he could ever imagine." She glanced at the driver, grinning maniacally. "I'm going to destroy him."

Wolfram pulled into the park, already noticing the group of people, Jenna, Ash, Jessi, and more. And something off...a few black SUV's just sitting there. Without waiting for a word from River, he pulled into a parking spot, pulling the keys from the car. Throwing the lanyard over his head, he pushed the car door open, not waiting for anyone. Brisa! A unexpected jolt shot through him as he spotted her among the group. He paused, eyes drifting to the SUV's. "River..." He glanced back inside the car. "I think we might have a problem."

River slid out of the car, eyes scanning over the group of people with purpose, before landing on Finlay, Lachlan, and Camilla, who were huddled together. They're okay. Thank God, they're okay.
She was beginning to march towards them, when Wolfram began speaking to her, and she followed his gaze as she stopped beside him. "Looks like the Pure, great. We gotta get outta here." She growled, eyes flickering to her sons and niece every few moments, before sliding to Wolfram.

Wolfram just nodded, his eyes never leaving the vans. He silently walked up to Lachlan, and pulled his hand out of his pocket, holding Lachlan's knife out to him. Indigo parked with a squeal that gave the unprepared people a whiplash. Sherri had expected it this time though.
Indigo clicked a button. The doors opened automatically.
Sherri hopped out a bit unsteadily. She tested her shifting abilities, turning into a little orange cat. Fortunately, they worked. She shifted back, unsure how to approach the group of people.

Wolfram shook his head frantically, eyes flickering over everything. The vans, Lachlan, Ash, Conner, Brisa...and to his disappointment not Bleddyn. Brisa offered a small smile to Wolfram, a flicker of worry skipping over her face at his pale, bloodied features. She waved at Sherri before starting forward to inquire after his well-being when she overheard what he said to Lachlan. Her step faltered and her eyes widened in shock. No. I didn’t hear that right. I couldn’t have. He... killed his own father? She knew that he had a bad relationship with him, but he had killed him?

Sherri walked toward Brisa. She couldn't help but mimic her.
