«We Could Be Legends»

Wolfram's concern for the group of Legends grew when he saw Ash's state. Quickly, he ripped the knife from the Pure's belt, and stood. Frowning, he rolled the blade in his hands, considering Bleddyn's words. "Hopefully that's the case." Hopefully.
"Hopefully." He dragged his gaze to Bleddyn's, letting it dwell on her until he realized they were in the middle of a war, and he probably should get moving. He snapped his head away from her, alerted by the glowing shape of Taylor approaching them.
"She's got reinforcements, somehow." Taylor hissed, throwing a flaming white ball over her shoulder and taking out one Pure.
Cursing under his breath, Wolfram nodded. "Tay, stay with Ash. Dyn, you can stay here, or help me track down Maple. Your choice."
Bleddyn glanced from Ash to Taylor and all of the able heroes that would surely keep her helpless mother from harm, better than Bleddyn herself could ever do. "Yeah...I'll come with," she replied eventually.
Out of the corner of her eye, Bleddyn saw her mother's focus shift to their exchange. She expected the adamant, emotional protest to come. But then Ash let out a shrinking sigh that obviously surrendered her restraint. "Please...bring her back."
Bleddyn gave her mother a tight-lipped, yet reassuring smile, only just shy of showing dimples. "Oh, he couldn't lose me if he wanted to."

Wolfram riveted his gaze to look at Ash, and gave a single nod. "I will." He glanced back at Bleddyn, tilting his head slightly. "Well, I don't want to lose you, so we won't have any problems."
He stared back into the battle, the young Pure girl with chestnut hair fighting furiously against the shadow's that the Pure were. His gaze flickered to the blade in his hand, and back to the field. Jokes on us...we're going to die before we even get half way across the battle.
"Alright, Dyn," he glanced at her, drawing in a painful breath. "Let's...let's do this."

"Alright, Dyn," he glanced at her, drawing in a painful breath. "Let's...let's do this."
When Wolfram looked at her again, Bleddyn was really struck by his appearance for the first time.
Scrapes, bruises, and cuts marred every section of skin visible. Haunted, bloodshot eyes told that he was running on little more than pure adrenaline. Sweat plastered the mess of black hair to his skull, but clingy dirt kept a few stray strands angled bizarrely. Little of his clothing wasn't mangled, and even less remained untouched by stains.
Like each and every one of them, he looked really bad.
And...really hot.
Bleddyn was thoroughly repulsed to find herself blushing, even if for the briefest of moments. Really not what I need right now.
"I think we both need one of those," she blurted, having wrenched her attention to the protective vests that were quickly gaining in popularity. "See any local?"

"Yeah, really." Bleddyn, temporarily alleviated of her grief, was far more stable than her afflicted mother. Even though her only burden was the lightweight handgun she'd been given, Ash stood on legs that quivered like saplings in a windstorm. Concerned, Bleddyn watched as Ash managed to wrap one finger around the trigger of her gun, but couldn't settle her quaking hands enough to train the muzzle on anything. Her eyes were heavily lidded, but Bleddyn could see enough to be disturbed by the unevenly-sized pupils. Concussions do that, right?
"We've got to down her. Get rid of the leader and the whole army falls into shambles, right?" Bleddyn tore her eyes away from her infirm mom to give Wolfram a long, weighted look. "And it's not really like we can keep this up forever."

River watched them, silent. As the mention of vests came up, she wrenched her's off. "Here." She growled, holding her's out to Bleddyn. "You take this one. I'll find another." She murmured, feeling a sudden rush of fear for the two young inhumans, and shoved it into the girl's arms.
She turned, eyes scraping over the ground, until she found a nearby body, and ripped its vest off, then returned and handed it to Wolfram. "Still, try not to get shot. Your heads still aren't protected." I should go with them. I've got more experience, and I'm not as badly wounded as Wolfram. "You guys need a third gun-man at your side?" She shrugged, her lips twitching at the ends in a suppressed grin. "I'm not as hurt as Wolf, and you're gonna need as many as you can get."

Wolfram glanced between Bleddyn and River, then proceeded to eye the vest warily. Even the thought of trying to pull something over his head sent a ache through his ribs.
Albeit it would protect him more then shredded clothing, he shoved it back at River. "You keep it..." He muttered, watching Ash and Taylor out of the corner of his eye, before his gaze drifted to Bleddyn. He knew River must have asked him a question, but for a moment his mind went blank when he fully realized the state of Bleddyn. Scarred and bleeding and every inch of clothing shredded and married with dirt.
"Um..." Forcing his stare away from Bleddyn, he looked at River. "Yeah...that'd be great." He murmured, his dulled gray-blue eyes scanning the bloodbath before him. Because I don't think I can kill her...not by myself anyway.

Gun still firmly secured into her hand, Bleddyn clumsily worked the vest over her head and gave River a nod of gratitude. She barely suppressed a groan when Wolfram refused his, but she wasn't about to fight him on it. "We'd probably do well to grab more of our group-- but then we'd become a really obvious target, wouldn't we?" Mainly, she was thinking of Toby, Camilla, Brisa too: probably the most powerful among them. Oh, and then there was Taylor...
She ran a quick look over their surroundings and had to rethink that. It wasn't like anyone was really okay enough anymore for their powers to be potent.

"If we were fighting anyone else, I'd say bring more of the group. But..." He searched the sea of black, hoping to find the flaming orange half of Mapleshade's odd hair in the midst, but found none. "This is Mapleshade we're talking about. She's a shifter, and with more people, she'd see or hear a group of people quicker then just a few."
Wolfram looked away from his futile searching to look at Bleddyn. "I've lived with her long enough to know that she can hear and see better then a lot of shifter's. We're better off finding her on our own."
Then, from the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow moving towards the forest behind them. Instantly. he saw a orange and white tipped tail slink into the thick and dark wood. She's trying to ambush us from behind!
"We can't let her get away, come on!" With a sharp intake of breath, he slipped past Ash and Taylor, and into the dark woods, almost curtain that they would not come back alive.

River gave Wolfram a blazing glower, it was evident on her face that she was obviously annoyed that he had turned down the vest she had brought him, but for once she didn't argue; knowing he wouldn't listen to her protests.
She nodded numbly to Bleddyn's words, slipping her vest over her head, and bitterly wishing she had a hairband so she could put up her sweaty, dirt covered mop of brown and black ombre hair. "Yeah, we'd become quite the target. And the people with the strongest powers are pretty much out. Taylor's pretty drained from that fire wall; plus she needs to stay with Ash, Toby's shadows pretty much sucked the energy outta him and he's helping wounded, and Brisa's completely out from a blow to the head. I saw Toby patch her up, then help her into Jenna's van." She paused, assessing her surroundings and checking who was still fighting. "That leaves Camilla, Peter, Lachlan, Finlay, Indigo, Jenna, and Jessi; and all of them are pretty caught up in the fight, anyway." She murmured, reloading her pistol.

River's ears caught the sound of the footsteps of a small creature the very moment Wolfram pelted into the woods in desperate pursuit of Mapleshade, and she lepted forward after him, her tail twisting in nervous energy.

Bleddyn went to shove her hands into her pockets and quickly found that she no longer had pockets, which was highly irritating.
So, not risking a glance back into the battle, she scurried after the two shifters with the gun held close to her chest.

Adrenaline coursed through Wolfram's vein like it hadn't ever done before. It blinded him completely, more so then the stabbing pain in his ribs as they screeched in protest against the impact as he pelt through the trees.
Brambles and leaves and branches whipped at his legs, snagging around his ankles and slicing open his face. But he didn't slow for them. There was a volcano of fury rising inside him, and it didn't allow him to stop or slow, even though he knew he was damaging his body even more so by heeding to the volcano's encouragement. Has that ever stopped me before, though?
He skidded to a halt suddenly, his gaze trained on the fur that was snagged on a bramble. His head shot up, listening. A normal human would hear the swish of leaves and trees as River and Bleddyn ran to keep up with him, but only someone with feline or canine hearing could hear the soft fall of footsteps as another being paced in the clearing past the thicket of thorns.
Without waiting for River and Bleddyn, he swerved around the brambles, and broke into a small clearing where Mapleshade stood. She whirled on her feet, staring at him.
"Coward!" Wolfram didn't slow to meet her gaze, instead only slammed her against the tree, the sharp snapping and grinding sound of breaking bones filling his ears.
Mapleshade writhed under his grip, releasing a shriek of agony as bones cracked under the force that slammed her against the tree.
He then realized he still had the knife in his hand, and it surged up, but stopped short, only a hair away from piercing her throat.
Within him he felt so much hatred and fury toward the woman writhing and hissing in front of him. Hatred he couldn't describe, because it was so much more powerful then almost anything he had ever felt before.
But, somehow, he couldn't bring himself to drive the knife, clutched in his torn and shaking hand, into her throat. She met his gaze with malevolent intent glittering wildly in her eye.
"What? To much of a coward to kill me? You're more like you're mother then I thought."
