«We Could Be Legends»

After healing Brisa, Alice waited for the wave of exhaustion to hit her, but for some reason it didn't come. Not that she minded. (@Thing2LovesChickens I know you're busy and just gave up on a different RP. So if you can't I made it so she can just sleep.)
"Brisa?" She said in a breathy voice, so quiet she wasn't sure she was heard. She could heal her injuries, but she wasn't able to replace any lost blood, maybe she was still asleep.

(Guess I actually was too busy...)

Brisa sat up slowly, testing out her shoulder carefully. Despite the damp, blood-soaked, and torn fabric of her dress and Mapleshade’s red-stained knife on the seat beside her, she felt no pain. She could, however, hear panicked and mourning voices outside of the van, and her heart dropped to her feet. What happened. Who... who died? Bracing herself, she slid across to the open door, still pale and a bit dizzy from blood loss (I’m figuring that even though Alice healed her wounds she couldn’t have replaced lost blood) and gingerly lowered herself to the torn up grass. The world began spinning when when her feet hit the ground, and she half collapsed into a cross legged position, leaning her back against the car for support. The earth below her had turned into a roller coaster, so she closed her eyes tightly.
“What happened? Is everyone okay?” She questioned hesitantly, regretting her last three words instantly. It was quite obvious that not everyone was okay.

Crow staggered to his feet and crouched in the bushes, motionless. They'll probably come over here to finish me off. He looked at his wing, which sagged from his shoulder and burned with agony every time he moved. Broken. To think that it was a tree that finally got me! I always thought it would be a car. He gazed out of the tangled thicket for signs of movement, but didn't see any. Not yet, anyway. He shifted, hissing and clenching his teeth as his broken bones rearranged themselves, possibly even worsening the break. He looked away from his arm and felt around for anything to use as a weapon. He grabbed a gun, grimacing as his hand brushed against the stiff fingers that had held it. Crow then waited, watching, for the first of the Pure to venture into the open.
One of the Pure hesitantly stepped out from their hiding place, walking briskly towards Crow. He took aim and shot, watching the alarmed look on the Pure's face as they fell to the ground, never to get up. There's still two more. And they know my position. He crouched lower and tried to ignore his breathing as he listened for any sound of movement.
Indigo looked gravely at the boy’s unmoving body. Body. We mustn’t use that word yet.
“Chicken and dumplings,” she commanded. A large woman handed her a bag of reconstituted Mountain House chicken and dumplings.
She handed the warm bag to Grace. “Could you give this to your brother?” she asked. “I mean force-feed,” she explained. “He really needs food and fluids right now, and we didn’t have the medical supplies prepared for a Teleporter, I’m afraid.”
"I don't- I don't know-" Grace stuttered, looking at Indigo with alarm. She pulled at her burnt sleeve unconsciously and glanced at her brother again. This is bad. I am going to totally choke my brother. Not the way I always wanted to, though.

Indigo abandoned her and began organizing the people that had been coughed out of the smoke. “Who’s all injured here?” she asked.

Jessi looked up at the sound of a gunshot. The field had been surprisingly quiet, until now. She scanned the area until she spotted two Pure men carefully walking towards a bush. Someone must be hiding in there. Jessi thought, turning to Toby.
‘I need to check something out. Don’t go anywhere unless it’s with aunt River to the cars.’ She growled.
“Wh-what? Where are you going?” Toby asked, using the hand of his uninjured arm to grab her tail as she lifted into the air.
‘I’ll be right back, I promise,’ Jessi replied, freeing her tail from his grasp and flying towards the bush.
She landed behind the Pure, roaring to get their attention. When they turned around, she used her tail to throw them a few yards away. She tucked her wings down by her sides and carefully moved closer to the bush Crow was hiding in. ‘Hello?’ She growled, moving a branch aside with a claw. ‘Uncle Crow?’ Her eyes widened as she saw he was hurt. ‘Oh no. What happened? Are you okay?’ She gently nudged his chest with her snout.

Grace grabbed Peter's shoulders and shook him, something she had a lot of practice with. "Hey, Peter, I'm gonna choke you if you don't wake up," she muttered. The pain in her arm from the bullet was easy enough to ignore; it had started to get numb, which was probably a bad thing.

Crow blinked in surprise as the two men he had been trying to get a good shot on had abruptly been swept away by.. A big pink tail? "Jessi? I hit a tree. Eh, I'm fine, my arm's just broken." He replied casually, as if he was talking about the weather. "Where's everyone else? The battle field seems mostly empty." He observed.

Jessi’s eyes widened is surprise as Crow seemed to understand wyvern. Wow, +1 respect uncle Crow. Jessi thought.
Most of them are waiting by the cars. There are healers there, they can fix your arm,’ Jessi growled, swishing her tail back and forth. ‘Your kids are also there. They’re probably really worried about you.’ She added. She offered a claw to help him up, looking around to make sure the Pure didn’t come back. From what she could see, they ran after being attacked by her tail.

Wolfram made his way to the van where everyone was gathering cautiously, sticking to the shadows until he reached it. He peered inside the van through the back door.
Lily sat in the backseat with Alec, the small boy huddled against her side. Alice sat with Ash and Camilla, Alpha laying just a bit away from them.
"Camilla?" He murmured, as she was closest to him, shoving the seat flat so he could painfully cram himself inside what would be the trunk of the van with them. "Where's Bleddyn?"

Standing at a far edge of the ruined clearing, Bleddyn looked back. Through the haze of smoke, she could just trace the outline of her friends' vans with a trembling finger.
Then her dry eyes traveled to where a handful of masked people were tearing through the woods nearby, still driven to kill despite their leader's demise and resulting mass dissemination.
Her fingers caught the cool barrel of her gun just as she was about to let it drop to the ground.
I can't.
Her vision tunneled to the vans again, but instead of vague impressions of their shelters, she saw them all individually. Her family and her friends.
And the missing among them.
Can I?
The scattered Pure were close enough that she could make out individual voices.
She'd made a promise.
But who was to know if it'd been her choice to break it?
It'd be so easy. Just go up to them and nothing will ever be my fault again.

Frustrated over her indecision, she drew her arm back and threw her gun with as much force as she could muster.
Then she stared after it as it faded into the smog.
Well, that was stupid.

Crow took the claw, dusting himself off. "Yeah.. they're ok?" He asked hesitantly. Crow eyed the clearing, making sure it was Pure-free. He struggled out of the bush, then turned back and looked at Jessi. "Your wyvern's a lot easier to understand than Rex's." He added.

Jessi hesitated. ‘I don’t know if they’re okay, but they’re not dead.’ Jessi said. She stood up straighter at his complement, smiling at him. ‘Thank you, I’m glad some people think so,’ she looked around. ‘I left Toby over there. You can join me, or you can go back to the cars.’ She knew Crow would probably rather get to his children as quickly as possible, but she hoped he would stay with her so she could keep him safe incase the Pure tried to attack him again.
