I feel it is. because I've thought that something someone said sarcastically was true and then was hurt when I figured out it was not the truth. but I didn't know them well. and once I did I realized that they were almost always telling "tall tales" but still at first, it was a bit of a surprise that what they were saying wasn't the truth.

Agreed. If I'm being sarcastic, I usually try to be obvious or tell the truth afterwards.
