āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

Earthquakes can strike anywhere at anytime. I agree that areas hit with disasters that are outside the 'normal' parameters aren't built for them & have the most tragic results.

I hope this latest disaster misses you Turk. :fl:fl

That is very true. If you are not prepared for a disaster, any disaster, the results are usually.... well.... disastrous. Sorry, excuse the pun ha I know this is a serious issue.

I have 12 quail in the pen (of 19), and I have not seen any hanging out with the big birds. I collected 9 eggs from the last two days, which is an improvement over the 0-2/day I have found the past several weeks.
Of the five 6-weekers, I know for sure one is in there, and honestly think at least three others are also in there. With all the running around, it took about fifteen tries to count the twelve quail!
I’m glad things are settling down finally. If I can get the aviary done, I will be happier.

Only socal and san fran bay have earthquakes. Texas has views of the Rockies? Didn't know that.
Nope. Not even West Texas. Well, almost.

I took it as he lived both places. Good to know ur not in earthquake zones, it sure is a Big state, lots of diff climates available and beautiful for sure. I have an Aunt out there. Shes crazy (and mean) so we dont speak.
Mojave Desert for 4 years. Wow. Just wow. The dry lake bed was amazing.

How long do you wait to take the chicks out of the incubator? I probably left the first one in for longer than I should have since she got frisky and moved stuff around. This one still looks pretty wet, though.

Edit: The first one would like a buddy, though. They've been cheeping at each other since they can see and hear each other.
You can leave chicks in the incubator for 24 hours. They are still digesting the yolk and are good.

Roomie! Good to read you.

I was hoping Turk had a thick accent. Like Ursuline. New Orleans t'ick. Mamou t'ick is even better, cher. :love (Cher, pronounce sha with a short a, is short for mon cheri or Honey)

New coworker just transferred in from Lafayette. Oh, how I miss the accent. Nut'in like it!
But I love to hear him talk"
Now that just gave my heart a throb
To the bottom of my feet
And I swore as I took another pull
My Bessie can't be beat
Up on Cripple Creek, as she sends me
If I spring a leak, as she mends me
I don't have to speak, as she defends me
A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

Southern accents crack me up.
