so far the storms here from Barry haven’t been that crazy yet but supposed to be hitting us with historical heat index this weekend in triple digits!! Everyone is scrambling to keep birds cool.....I’m probably going to add some additional waterers as they are draining the 2 1 gal that I have already. we butchered 5 more males and 1 female today. I just went out again to check on everyone and put the “wonder twins” on the roost in the coop successfully but Hodor wasn’t having anything to do with the coop and is still pacing the fence trying to get back to the quail.

Make a shadow box, i think itll b a nice way to remember the pretty ones and some pretty eggs in the center too the silver body piece could make the nest in the centerfor the eggs(idk?) Ill have to toy w it. Ill b sure to share. Its really simple. Thought yall might enjoy.

Update on the yuppie dirt. I did end up picking up a block of compressed coconut coir from Walmart the other day. It is near the potting soil and meant as a soil amendment I think so probably finer than the pet store stuff. I reconstituted with 4 gallons of water and it seems to work well. Sometime I mix in some sand too.

My friend is trained in taxidermy. I told her we need to start a pretty quail collection

Buried in cornmeal in a (diaper)box. Seriously its that simple. U kno its too hot to dry a skin (like a bunny) the traditional way.
